I'm getting to that point. My wife and I watch Jeopardy. We are both really good at trivia and there are some nights when, between us, we are getting many or most of the Jeopardy questions. What I'm finding is that while I know I know the question, I cannot get it from my brain to my mouth in time. My wife just blurts it out. It's so frustrating, but at least I'm around to be having this pretty normal recall issue for people my age.

The first flying disc sold by Wham-O.

Later called the Frisbee.

I used to drive for UPS in Germany back in the late 80's. I had several stops at companies that would set up computers for other companies. My truck would often be full of CPUs and CRTs, so I'd have to go to the center of my usual route first just to drop them all off so I could get at the rest of the packages. Always threw my whole schedule off.

Jeopardy is about all I watch on TV these days and I really enjoy it. I get some of the questions right, which seems to amaze my wife. And like you, I often know the answer, but can't engage mouth quick enough.

An added plus for us is our respective amazement when one of us blurts out an question and the other one had no idea we knew that bit of information. I mean, we've been together for a 1/2 century! You would think we know what the other one knows. Not even close.

After we watch Jeopardy, if we've felt particularly dumb by not having many of the questions, we watch Wheel of Fortune. We often beat the contestants to the answer to the puzzle. Boy do we feel smart when we get the final puzzle and the contestant doesn't get it. Of course, we cheat and pause the screen to give us time.

You and your wife sound pretty good at that trivia stuff. Did you ever think of going on one of those game shows? You are in Cali and I would assume they are filmed here.

I used to think about it. My niece and her husband are both 1-day Jeopardy champions and I go toe-to-toe with them when we play Trivial Pursuit. But, I'm too slow now. The only way I can keep up with the younger contestants would be to have a pause button to give me extra time. I don't think they would allow that!

Did you ever consider taking one of those OTC 'brain enhancing' products?

Personally, have not looked in to them so don't know anything about them.

My wife subscribes to Lumosity. She plays it almost every day and she loves it. She says it really helps her. I'm going to have to give it a try.

...when you can't open a plastic spring water bottle without getting soaked by its contents! It seems like these new eco-friendly bottles are soooooo thin that you can't even unscrew the lid and break the tamper seal ring without squeezing the bottle so hard that the contents come spraying out.

For the past week, my DW and I were on a long road trip. Whenever the driver asked for some bottled water, the other person would ask if they wanted to drink it or wear it because both of us were making messes opening the water bottles. I thought that it was just us, until I watched an aging relative who we stopped to visit get soaked opening a water bottle from a completely different bottler in another part of the country.

I was thinking about the design for a self-tapping sipper straw, to pierce the side of the water bottle without removing the cap. Then I had a realization that the new eco water bottles were so thin that they might as well be plastic bags like those silly Canadians use for their milk. It should be way easier to ship flat plastic bags to the bottling plant versus empty round bottles, and it might also skirt the bottle/can deposit law because it technically is neither.

If we want to save the planet from plastic waste, I think that a better alternative would be to use paper cartons like milk and juice come in. I know that there's a small beverage company producing drinking water in kid's juice box sippy cartons as an eco alternative. Maybe that's the best solution (*) to prevent us old farts from getting soaked while staying hydrated?????

*Water Bottles.

They are just difficult for me because I really think I have something going on with my nervous system or just my limbs. I just don't have the feeling I think I should or it seems like the fine motor skills I should. Something like picking a hair off a shirt is not easy for me. Or actually anything where I have to pinch 2 fingers together, like holding a nut on a bolt. It gets me pretty damn frustrated sometimes (all times).

But the only time it manifests into me getting dirty or wet is those damn water bottles.

The caps are the culprit also. They are so small, you can't even get a good grip on them.

They actually blow the bottles on site in most of the larger/newer plants as opposed to shipping them in. Shipping those empty bottles was a bitch in the summer. If it was too hot and they were on the trailer too long the bottles would melt out of shape, and that was before they were so flimsy.

I can just imagine shipping water in plastic bags.. What could possibly go wrong?
