I got my AAC 762SDN6 back from Remington unrepaired since they went bankrupt so I stuck it on this build to make it quieter and it shouldn't unlatch itself. It's not rated for a 6" barrel, but they're out of business and if I kill the can, I kill the can. I'll have someone (probably ECCO) rebuild the whole thing. I got the Aero 12" handguard, but it's more like 12.5" so it was a little longer than I expected but it'll work just fine for my trunk gun. --- Re: EoTech vs Aimpoint. I just ordered ten Aimpoint PROs for work even though we could've gotten the Eotech's cheaper. |

Can we take a second and talk about gun safes. I am tired of keeping all my stuff locked up in cases around the house and just want a central point of containment. Mainly concerned about kids...has anyone ever used a 'Secure-It' gun safe? Any recommendations? Not looking to spend several thousands.

Never used a secure it or anything like that. I’m gonna buy a Liberty Colonial 30 safe here soon though. But i have a few friends who have gone with slightly cheaper options and they all seem happy. You can get a pretty nice one for around $600-800 from places like Cabelas

I actually sent them an email about 20 minutes ago...checking to see if their 18-20week lead time is on all safes or if they have anything quick ship ready.

Certain models of safes come with free delivery and others it’s generally $100-200 to have delivered from a local store and depending if there is stairs or anything. Or get a few buddies one of whom has a truck and buy a case of beer.

You might try Costco... They'll deliver to your garage for free. From there you just need a couple buddies.

To be pedantic, those items you have mentioned are not safes, but residential security containers. Close enough for government work, but there are differences.
Your security is only as good as your budget. The more you can afford, the better security you can buy. For the most part, we aren't securing our guns/valuables from the random break-in. We are securing our guns/valuables from people who know we have them. Friends, family, friends of family, etc. So, the fewer people who know you have guns, the more secure you are. Securing your home and discouraging burglars/robbers comes next. After that, physically securing the guns becomes important. There are exceptions. Your state of residence may require secure storage. In that case, buy the cheapest container that meets your state's requirements. Finally, if you decide to buy a safe, buy the biggest safe you can afford. The manufacturer may advertise the safe as holding 30 guns, but in reality that safe will only hold 20, plus a bunch of stuff your wife wants to keep in there. |

Picked up my latest two impulse buys today.
1: Fostech .300 pistol with a binary trigger (first rule of Fight Club comes to mind). 7.5 inch barrel and weighs next to nothing. 2: FN 509 Tactical. Got a great IWB holster for this thing so after 500 rounds or so I might try carrying it for awhile. Love my FNX .45 Tactical but way too heavy for C&C. I’ll load this up with the usual +P and have 18 round capacity. The extended mag goes 24 but too long for C&C. I even found 1000 rds of range practice ammo locally in store for right under $500 which is insanely lucky in these times. |

On your AR pistol, is that another mag taped to the loaded mag? Upside down and backwards?

My AR in 6.5 Creedmoor shoots close to MOA or better, depends on the ammo “bullet weight and velocity.” For varmints I’m shooting the chest.
They do have two stage triggers that are crisp. For longer range, 500 yd plus, I would go with a good bolt action.

Thanks. Just bought a Geissele SSA-E to try. Will probably put it in my full size 556 DDM4 rather than my 300 BLK pistol. Who knows. Love these toys. 😀
