We recently traveled to the UK and had no problem swapping SIMs from our Verizon iPhones to the service used by ee in England. Not sure is ee is GSM or not, but it should be easy enough to google.

They go in phases. They don't yet offer an option to buy a phone not yet attached to a carrier account. It is unlocked (probably) but it still needs to be activated against a carrier. Yes the phones are factory unlocked. And you can set up a reservation as an "upgrade" and pay in full, when you get there. They don't seem to care.

Verizon is factory unlocked... Always has been and from the sounds of it, always will be... The rest are tied, yes...

Again... The only iPhone 7 in the US that is factory unlocked is the Verizon one... T-Mobile and AT&T are not... Sprint can be - after 90 days of using it on their network...

Unless they changed something the full priced iPhones from Apple are factory unlocked. I only mentioned upgrade because Apple is giving upgrade customers priority for now. It's just a way to bypass that.

Unless they changed something the full priced iPhones from Apple are factory unlocked. I only mentioned upgrade because Apple is giving upgrade customers priority for now. It's just a way to bypass that.

Okay let me try to go into detail for you... In order for an iPhone to be truly factory unlocked, and able to be used anywhere in the world, it has to be one of these two models - A1660 and A1661... That symbolizes the 7 and 7plus... The ONLY carriers who have these phones are Sprint and Verizon... This means those particular phones are CDMA and GSM... They use particular chips, I believe Qualcomm...

These are the only factory unlocked versions that you can use on all carriers... Even if they offered factory unlocked T-Mobile / AT&T phones, you wouldn't be able to use it on Sprint / Verizon and also wouldn't be able to use those phones in countries that are not GSM...

Anyone else getting Voice Mail transcriptions in the voice mail app? Mine says "Transcription Beta" then contains a transcript of the voice mail when I expand it to play the voice mail. SUPER cool. I have a 6 that is updated and it doesn't do it - so it is either hardware specific or account-based.

Microsoft tried that with Lync about 5 years ago and it was soooo bad that it was actually hilarious reading some of the transcript attempts.

Verizon / sprint (kinda) is still factory unlocked and T-Mobile / At&t are still locked to carrier...

Sure, maybe one day they might offer SIM free T-Mobile / at&t iPhone7 / 7+ but that's still not factory unlocked...
