Hopefully the G87 won't have the same offset of seat/pedals/wheel as the F87, it that would make for a pretty uncomfortable driving position with the centre hump of the CF seat.

In general, very plain and uninspired bodywork for a car that should look dynamic; at speed standing still. The chunky square inlets are bold and somewhat aggressive, but the lack of badging or inlets, softness of body lines make vehicle side appear to look equal or less special than the M240i. The last generation M2 was a step above other series models, you could tell it was the bad beast in the family. This design just looks uninspiring. The fact the top view makes it look a little less so is no compliment. The devil is in the details and this design lacks em in spades. When some of the concept renderings on the internet look better than the real deal you got a big problem.
But all this speaks to a greater issue I see within BMW; a confused and directionless design philosophy. The ever evolving kidney grill that changes size and design with every new car release, the vast differences in surface styling (curves to rectangles and back again), sometimes from one series model release to other in the same model year, the simplification of interior design and use of screens that make you feel you are driving a game console and not a car. Too much, too soon, for the sake of differentiating BMW from other brands. It's like they told designer to try everything and see what sticks! If I look at the recently released XM and the M4 and the 240i, the only common thread I see is ID8; a far cry from the BMW of yesteryear.

I really get a strong and solid impression of the design of this. Separated and inset kidneys are tasteful and proportional. Lower inlets are simpler than recent designs and evoke a more "carved out of a block" feel to the front fascia. Nothing feels 'tacked on' or afterthought in my humble personal opinion. Really optimistic on this design and hopeful about the swansong (?) 6MT 2-series ICE derivative. The simplicity of the ' no side vent ' works a well to solidify the side and not break up the flow of the side profile. The most recent birds eye 3/4 really is flattering.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder indeed. I'm happy there will at least be one more 6MT coupe. Of all the designs of late, I would dare say this is quite a reasonable, attractive design in the wake of desperate, diverging design looking for footing like the XM, G8x collection for example.

Sorry- this looks at best awful, like some dude built a wannabe M2 kit car in his garage! I would rather get the M240i over this, at least from a body design and implementation perspective.
Besides, isn't this supposed to have the 50 Jahre emblems?

My understanding is those emblems are only for 2022 model year cars.
