Everyone ended up buying one?

I can see you live in the bimmerpost echo chamber
I don't see many G80 M3/4 at all NYC/NJ area

I think BMW did a great job. I was in the "I need an M3" camp, but for at least $10k less, this car seems phenomenal.

The G42 was a lot closer to the G20 in interior quality and materials. This seems like a jr. M3/M4. I'm curious to know the advantages of the RWD 6MT M4 over the M2. I understand the competition and xDrive versions bring more to the table, but what does the M4 6MT offer that this G87 M2 doesn't?

The leaks were absolutely spot on - it's the exact same car.
Only thing is that BMW has more time, money and equipment to capture images that flatter the car the most.

This one will have to be seen in person for final judgement.

And it seems like BMW only added Toronto Red for the launch due to the negative reactions the blue was causing. While it does look better in red, both look plasticky and lego like to me - as someone said earlier - like they were 3D printed.

I'm reserving judgement cos when I first saw the M240i, I didn't think it was 'great'. Good looking car yes, but not a best hits from BMW. However, I later on observed that it had significant road presence for its size. This car may be that way too - more impressive in motion/on the road.

We'll see how it looks in the flesh.
The automotive press that flew to Munich six weeks ago and only saw/videoed one car, the TR car. There was no last minute change, especially due to the backlash of ZB.

No idea about the Competition model. However, the M2 was around 3600 lbs. at the lightest. 3300 lbs. is more like a 1 series. Even a stripper M235i or F22 M240i is over 3400 lbs; the F22 was never that light.

No no my guy you've got it all wrong

The new M2 isn't the old M2 CS that's the problem

Also if you really could afford three Porsches you wouldn't be looking to buy this car because the M2 is for poor or young people only

Scully is right again. I have a DCT M2 CS with roughly 10K miles and I don’t want the G87 M2.

The F87 M2 CS clearly outperforms the G87 M2 with lower weight, better 0-60, better handling, better looks, etc. Please do your research and stop arguing facts. The G87 M2 is awful.

If i would own a CS i would look for a new car either.
Better 0-60 yes, better handling i dont think so, better looks is a personal preference, etc ?
I would bet on it the G87 will have a faster laptime on the Nürburgring but we will see in a few months.
The G87 M2 will definitely be faster around the ring, the f87 CS isn't that fast. But BMW likely won't do a timed lap with the G87.

But the 1M and M2 was never supposed to be about lap times as much as driving experience.

Let's hope the driving experience is top notch. All we can comment on based on today is exterior design and interior layout, and both are not where I'd personally want them to be.

If you don't want to be limited to 155 and want the track day. Right now, it costs more to flash the car, to unlock the top speed, and you don't get a track day with it.

I will chime in on why this isn't necessarily true.

Porsches are a pain to run multiple track days because parts availability just isn't there and consumables are no less costly. Many of them being $100K+ doesn't help either.
On the other hand, some drivers are confident enough to toss around a solid front engine-rear wheel drive car that doesn't break down every now and then and cost $62K. There's just less mental burden to push these cars.

I dont think I am going over 155. I regularly hit 110 during normal drives and 130-140 when playing around but only hit 150 once in my current car

Overall, I don't mind it! I don't like the rear bumper, but I like the front. Great to see BMW offering a manual. Also, I think it looks significantly better than the G82. If I wanted a coupe I would go G87 over G82.

This. I've done maybe 50 track days in my OG M2. Zero issues and little maintenance required. I'm waiting for my GT4 allocation to come through and I have zero plans to track that. That's what the M2 is for.

Idk why everyone's bashing all the F87 owners. Everyone's entitled to an opinion. It's tough to have an awesome car and update to the same concept if you're not 100% in love. I'd rather stick with mine unless it's nicer in person and the black hides all the weird elements they went with.

True. Sounds like you talked yourself out of it. I ordered my car in July of 21. Nothing had been cracked yet. If you clone your ECU and tune it, you're looking at like $6,000.
