I agree, but Mercedes has clearly been giving Russell preference, and apparently it just backfired.

Money

Checo is backed by the richest men and sponsors.

It's unfortunate that these companies can do this, it's terrible for the integrity of the sport.

Who cares? They got caught and RUS got DQ’d. Smoke/fire what? Mercedes broke a rule, got penalized, what’s there to look into? If the penalty was unjust, let your mind run wild.

Pressing this issue like there’s something more in it thinking it’s some long play for Mercedes.

Mercedes tried to “cheat”, got caught and was DQ’d.

If they did try to cheat like that then they must be stupid not thinking there was a chance they would be caught.

The simplest explanation to the Checo drama is that RB weighed their options and concluded continuity and stability was better than the potential upside from a different driver. I'm a big, big Danny Ric fan but objectively, there is a good chance he or Lawson or Yuki might've struggled to adapt to this RB20.

Maybe they were that stupid. I mean Mercedes hasn’t been Mercedes for the last 2.5 years, bunch of amateurs over there in Brackley. There’s a lot more things to analyze in F1 right now - this is not one of them. Team broke rules, got penalized to the full extent. Nothing else to look into.

Fully agree. Most people here are narrow sighted and don’t understand that F1 is a big business that involves more than just a car and driver. At the end of the day, money talks. Hypothetically, if Oracle provides Red Bull say 100 million a year and winning the constructors pays out 140-150 million, even if Red Bull doesn’t earn max payout, Checo probably makes up the difference. Not sure the money is the same if RIC is driving. Not only is the sponsorship money not there, there’s no guarantee that Red Bull wins constructor.

the issue is not Checo's money, apparently FIA told RB to keep Perez.

that is next level conspiring.

Oh yes it is, these may be small things to you but will stick with Merc like a bug that can't be shook off. A DQ from the race for likely cheating is a blow to their integrity in spite of HAM being handed the win and thus will be under scrutiny more.

Horner said he felt sorry for George because it was a miscalculation, adding that in FP Red Bull found that they lost well over 1kg in their tires during their long runs. sounds like people measure tire weight loss but they forgot to consider that when allowing George to go long.

but it sounds like they tried to hide the fuel in the car afterwards hoping the stewart wouldn't find it

This also is suspected which I never mentioned before. It goes back to my comment of integrity in the team, does Wolff realise it bounces back to Mercedes manufacturer, one of the largest on the planet, as a whole..looking at it as a normal thing to chance with actually chances of getting caught being a dead cert. The stewards can spot an ant in the next room.

A long standing part of the Red Bull furniture is leaving at the end of the season.

Long overdue, I think. Audi is sure to struggle at the start of these new regulations, so hopefully they are patient with him and the team’s progress.

Yea, the idea of a grand conspiracy to keep Checo in the car is a little silly. Red Bull, of all teams, being coerced keep an underperforming driver in the car, at the risk of the constructors’ title is a bit far-fetched. What would Red Bull gain? What even could Liberty or FIA offer or threaten to make RB go along with that? Just silly to me.
