Are you able to track your car on the BMW app? I know our cars are going to the same port and I believe they were produced around the same time I logged on today and it's asking me if I have the car in my possession. Could that mean it's at the dealership? |

I was unable to as of this afternoon. I see the same thing on the app. I also can't track it online either as of this afternoon. It says My BMW Garage is unavailable. I have no clue what it means. Genius is telling me mine didn't even get to the port in Mexico until the 5th. Have you called genius?

I think the BMW system is down. My app is telling me the same thing, and the website says my garage is down, so it’s probably just an IT issue right now.

I called earlier in the week and they didn't have any new information- car was still in Mexico. The system wide glitch makes the most sense. It's back up for me too, still in transit. |

Anyway, I was able to confirm with Genius that yes, my car did make that boat and is in the US, despite still being in status 193. So, long story short, BMW's tracking seems to be a bit wonky right now, I wouldn't necessarily trust the app or Genius...depending on the step, one or the other might be wrong. If your destination port was Hueneme, you should be able to call Genius now and determine if you are at the VPC or still in Mexico. If they are still telling you Mexico, they are probably correct. If your destination port is somewhere else, I'm not sure I have only been following the shipping schedule into Heuneme. Hopefully this helps! |

Can anyone give me a quick rundown on how to track the car? I put a deposit down on a build slot and my dealer said it'll be the second week of August. At this point am I able to start tracking the car online or on an app? Do I need further info from the dealer to do this? Also, what's the process of reaching out to BMW Genius for updates? Thanks for the help guys!

You can start tracking once you get an allocation. At that point your CA can (and should) give you a vehicle information report (VIR). That production number is what you use to track until you get a VIN. Just a fyi, tracking may lag at times. Your CA will have access to and be able to give you more accurate information that the Genius. |

Can I use my production number as the VIN in the app too? I got the website tracker working and have been using that, but seems like I tried the app and it only accepts the VIN (which I obviously don’t have yet.

Unless you have a production number, all you have done is put yourself is a position to get an allocation. Once you get your allocation, you will have a production number. You can make changes up until status 150 (not sure when you need to lock in your paint if going with an individual color). |

App requires the 17-digit VIN. Build/prod number doesn’t work.

I thought you were ahead of me in terms of production que? When is your scheduled production date as I'm surprised you don't have a VIN yet. I got my VIN when my status flipped to 150 (my production date is July 23rd). Found the VIN number on the website "track my status" section of mybmw.

Correct, on the website, when using the production number you will be able to see when the VIN is assigned (status 150). Your CA should be providing these major updates to you...if they aren't, you should ask them to (make friends with them if you can). |

I have a banner that says 'In Production' and then I see this:
'Track Status: Scheduled for production' I see only my 'Production' # - no VIN anywhere It's on the 2nd progress indicator.

You might also be able to “inspect” the website HTML code and see if you can identify status code within that (I assume that is what the chrome truck extension is doing behind the scenes?).

BroDoze here is the BMW chrome trick which lets you also see the exact start of production date once you enter the 3rd step (status code 150)

The site shows 'In Production' without it actually being in production. Build week 33 is August 12th. My car was scheduled for production about 2 weeks prior to actually being built. Once you get scheduled for production, you get a VIN and an actual build date. Once you get the VIN you can put it in the MyBMW app, and track through there as well. Prior to that, you just have the build week and production number. Most likely your scheduled build date will fall during your build week, but some people get lucky and get built a bit early. If your schedule follows mine, you should be scheduled for production and get a build date for sometime in August around 7/29.
