Got a little fancy with the V-day dinner. Salmon w/dill aoli, cauliflower mash, a couple of petite potatoes with garlic butter and gorgonzola crumbles, plus asparagus. Cat got a little salmon from my wife; she's a pushover when it comes to that cat.

Actually this is untrue. Kitties can be very jealous of another cutie stealing her intended affections. Let the games begin.

Completely unintentional. I didn't even notice him sitting there until after I'd taken the picture, I swear. 😉

Maqluba is unbelievable. Basmati rice, potatoes, cauliflower, eggplant, green pepper, onions and tomatoes. Seasoned with cinnamon, allspice, turmeric, salt and pepper. This has earned itself a spot in our rotation.

Za’atar made with dried herbs and salt ground in a mortar and pestle. It should also include roasted and ground sesame seeds but I didn’t have any! Herbs include oregano, thyme, marjoram and sumac.
Your food looks great but looks like it takes forever to make!

I can’t decide if chassis posts are inspirational or intimidating. I love to cook, or did. I’m in a funk and don’t seem to have the motivation. Chassis kills it. All the time, every time. When I experiment, sometimes it tastes good but isn’t pretty. Chassis’s presentation is always intimidating. I mean that as a compliment.

Thanks! It wasn't always that way. It takes time and practice, like most things.

Cooking for me is an outlet, so maybe it could help with the funk. Try something that stretches your skills or palate a bit. There are many good videos on YouTube, which makes it much easier than years ago. Progress, not perfection is the goal!

Thanks. Yes it does take some time, but probably less time than driving to a restaurant, waiting for a table, waiting to place the order, waiting for the food, eating, waiting for the bill, then driving home.

Plus making food at home is cheaper and better than most restaurants!

Meal/menu planning a week or so ahead of time helps to make things more manageable.

Totally agree, we eat in mostly just going to a few of our favoured restaurants for special occasions also only one can drink spirits and wines when then driving home.
