Haha I think I’m using my age mostly as an excuse for not having the stomach to pay $3k plus carbon roof tax for a color. I’ve loved ZB from the moment it came out, and it’s a more subtle way of expressing myself. Best of all, it’s free!

For anyone unfamiliar, when you buy a new BMW (any model) and DON’T take delivery at the performance center, then your purchase includes a free visit to the performance center for you and a guest within 1-year of your purchase date.
It’s called “new owners track drive” you just call the performance center to schedule it and give them your VIN.

I’ve taken my dad in the past, will probably invite my FIL this time.

Interesting...perhaps the "rules" for "new owners track drive" have changed but in 2023, after our PCD of our x3 M40i, we also got the new owner track drive invite and enjoyed that experience at Performance Center West in January...escaping Midwest winter for a few days.

It was a great experience and encourage new owners to take advantage of it if offered to you.

Hi folks, new to the forum here. I've had a few M cars in the past (M4, M4cs, M2c) but this will be my first new from factory car. I've speced my G87 with voodoo blue.. it had a week 37 in September build date originally but, the tracker still shows "Order recieved" (102 status).Does anybody know when the next wave of voodoos are being produced? When I reached out to the dealer they reached out to the regional head and they replied with "The order had to be pushed out to accommodate the special paint you have on this order. Lead time is usually 4 to 6 weeks. The order will stay in 102 with no confirmed production date till it is booked and back in 111. It could be a couple more weeks." Just curious if anybody had more of an inside scoop or could fill me in on how long I should expect to wait once it's begun production.

Java is by far the most interesting of the individual colors, and given how popular grays are, a unique pearl shade like Grigio is going to be the most ordered of the individuals. I'm not ordering mine until the middle of next year. I've jumped between the M240i xDrive to the M2. In looking at dealer arrivals on YouTube and other sources, there are a huge number of people ordering Thundernight Metallic (purple) M240i's. There are purple M240i's coming out the wazoo. It took that color out of consideration for me.

Maybe it's because Thundernight is a bit darker, or maybe because it's a much cheaper option.

I suspect that if you had the real numbers TNM would not be the most popular or even the the top 3 color for these cars. The enthusiast community is pretty psyched on the color, and thus you see the small minority of owners who join forums and post on YouTube with a similar spec.

If you want the most rare colors, buying a 2025+ specific color will probably be the smallest total number of cars built in a color. Vegas, skyscraper, and ZB

Overall it seems that the m240, and m2, in my local metro are quite rare cars. I have only seen a handful on the road ever.

Are the numbers published anywhere? I’ve gone back-and-forth with different colors, but right now I’m leaning toward Voodoo Blue. I love that color!

I was going to say the 2 series having a purple does make it a little less special but I can count the number I have seen in person on 0 fingers.

Is that a tally of cars listed for sale? If so, it's not necessarily accurate, but I acknowledge it's still a strong indicator.

Consider also there are multiple shades of gray and blue, and two of white, and only 1 of purple. They all get grouped together into the same tally. TNM is still last (to my surprise), but I don't think it's by as much as the list suggests.

It's just what is for sale right now, and I agree it's not the definitive listing. When I did the same search on a number of different sites I saw a similarly large disparity in purple cars versus all other colors.

The forum/social/youtube lens is a very distorting one in all cases. It's why you cant really trust forums to tell you what problems a car has. (for any car brand and model) There are vastly more cars on the road than enthusiasts posting about them on the internet. In performance cars you get more % of the total owners but its proably something like 5% or less always.

Agreed, but what are the two shades of white? This car only comes in Alpine — no mineral or frozen options…

The configurator has Alpine and Mineral. At least, on the BMW USA site.

Oh I think you’re accidentally looking at the M240i configurator. It’s easy to confuse the two because they started offering ZB on the B58 for 2025 too.

Anyone ordering voodoo blue with pics? Interesting that at the beginning of color announcement lots of folks are keen on the color but I rarely see any pictures of people ordering them, same as YT review videos etc.

You're not going to see any because none have completed production yet. You can however see official individual color pics from BMW on page 16 of this thread, scroll halfway down.
