I hope those front fender flares are some sort of cladding as those are some seriously sharp angles.

I'm one of those CS owners and would be pretty pissed if they did that. In fact if they do something like that, my F87 M2 CS will be the last BMW I'll ever buy.

It will be slightly bigger. It's probably slightly heavier.

I think the next M2 will have a CF roof and adaptive suspension. Just speculation and my opinion at this point in time. I also don't think it's any reason really for a current M2CS to get bent out of shape. They've bought a classic M car ... but there is always a next gen coming. It will be a little heavier and bigger and that alone is worth the $ to the current owners.

With the G87 M2 BMW could keep CFRP roof for M2 CS or M2 CSL territory. Or include it as part of some expensive "CFRP galore pack". Anyways, G87 test mules still feature a metal roof for the time being.

About the G87 M2 length.
My guesstimate: close to E46 M3 length (keeping it 4500mm-ish). See also this old thread (2014) ("M Cars Get Wider, and Wider, and Wider"). F87 M2 Competition: 4461mm E46 M3: 4492mm E92 M3: 4615mm F82 M4: 4671mm G82 M4: 4794mm

For some reason, that wheels don't look staggered.
I speculate adaptive suspension and CF roof being optional.

Please make it so.
Way too early, but those latest pics show sunken in wheels like on the G8x that look terrible. Pop those suckers out. Last edited by NickyC; 03-15-2021 at 12:11 AM.. |

That looks fantastic. This looks like a real successor to my E46 M3, I'm already trying to get on lists.
My only real reservation is I'm not a big fan of the full digital cluster but I'll get over it. |

I'm hoping and praying that it looks awesome, but just like these spy shots, sometimes I'm happy with what I see and sometimes, I'm sad.

Has the engine been confirmed for G87? I only see some third hand speculation that it will have detuned S58. It would make total sense because it’s easy from a supply chain perspective which seems to be BMWs primary concern these days. I guess the only risk with that would be potentially cannibalizing G80/2 sales, but AMG seems to be able to throw the same TT V8 in literally everything so that’s the counter example to this risk

Having the S58 in the M2 will not cannibalise the M3/M4. One is a largish sedan, one is a 2 door whale, one is a relatively compact coupe. They serve different lifestyles and it’s great that no matter which body you choose, you still get to enjoy the S58. |

Not impressed but will keep an open mind. Looks like the current G80 cars in two door form. It will offer more power, more tech but it's also looks to be larger in size than the current M2 it replaces. We shall see.

With a maximum of 375 kW/600Nm, it could potentially do the job but when they do another CS, it certainly won't be the B58 they'd be using. Hence I think S58 is it.

There is just something so elegant and simplified in the M2 Comp gauges. I love it.
