It is clearly not a design flaw according to BMW since it first appeared in 2014-2015 and has not been touched since. It's a feature and why the cooling is so good on these cars. I'm not going to say it's the best idea they have ever had, but there's always tradeoffs to be made and space is at a premium in the front of the car.

Here in Calgary there is a significant amount in the premium to cover destructive hail risk. Measured in terms of percentage of property value, we still pay a reasonable 0.3% per year for insurance, but likely 1/3 of that is for hail coverage. Due to the recent wildfires in British Columbia our holiday cabin is in a high risk area, the insurance rate there is currently 0.5% per year of property value of which 2/3 is likely for wildfire coverage, but I expect it will go up substantially with an order of magnitude more area burnt in Canada these past couple of years. |

Can I ask if anybody that leased their M2 had whichever underbody thing installed at dealer with a service? Just curious if anybody had concerns about installing themselves then having the dealer point fingers at you for messing something up

Don't lease so I am not sure if there's an actual concern, however, all the aftermarket protections are not mod's, the pieces are simply replacements and one can easily revert back to factory, as long as you keep the pieces being swapped out.

How to remove/replace G87 oil cooler
I plan to RR my damaged OEM oil cooler with OEM replacement myself. Access and hose connections seen easy enough- just don't quite see how to lower existing cooler with mounting ears(flanges) and dampers. Anyone don this replacement? Any guidance or pics to share? TIA
