Given that you can get analogue-esque gauges on the 2 series, I wonder if the M2 would have the same option. I doubt it though because the M2 seems to have Idrive 8

What makes you think it will get iDrive 8? The M240i only has iDrive 7 and they have always had parity. I know there was the one prototype that had a cobbled together version of iDrive 8, but I'd be surprised if that made it to the final car.

It has already been confirmed that the G42 will only have i Drive 7 with the current gauge layout for the 2022 model year.For MY23 it will get iDrive 8 with the new curved screen and so will the G87.

The future model thread has confirmed it.

We're already getting a car with iDrive 8 within the next 6 months and the M2 will be out a whole year after that. By then iDrive 7 will be a thing of the past.

Does iDrive8 = curved screen with a kickstand?

Can't they do iDrive8 with a more integrated curved screen? The curved screen in the iX matches the futuristic EV type car. I guess. But does it match with an M that is supposed to be a drivers car?

It's really hard to tell. I want to say it has them, but I can't tell if it's just my mind telling me I what to see. The buckets would be huge on this car if available, they're the only thing I liked about my G82 when I owned it. If the new M2 has them as an option I'll likely get one.

Are they really worth $3,800+ in upgrade? That's a heck of a lot of money. Residual value on them is probably only 20%…. Do they improve the experience that much??

Probably the bare bones model before dealers add another 5-10k on top of course. I was personally hoping the options would be super simple like the f87

The anticipation is KILLING ME! THIS is the BMW worth waiting for right now. I drove the X3M Competition recently, and that engine in an M2C is going to be stupendously incredibly amazing!!!!
