Today was a good day because I got new fiber optic Internet service and will finally be able to cut the proverbial cord with Xfinity.

It's also the first time I'm becoming more familiarized with WiFi 6 (802. 11ax) and hope to eventually get devices that can take advantage of it. The latest gateway that AT&T provides has this spec which is nice.

I've got the fastest speed (1000) plan and it's $70/mo. incl. a $10 rental fee for the gateway device (no way around this). There's no data cap which is important to me. I had a cap with Xfinity at just 1.2TB and I'm paying way more money for their service which is ridiculous.

I'm loving the symmetrical spec of having fiber with super fast upload speeds to go with the download speed.

In addition to signing up as a new customer for their fiber service, I got $400 worth of prepaid Visa cards coming my way. Not bad, huh?

Xfinity/Comcast won't give me shit though I've been a customer for a dozen years and they STILL require signing a 2 year contract just to get a crappy discount. Sayonara Xfinity.

EDIT: Oh and I forgot to add they're throwing in HBO Max for free with my service. Normally $14.99/mo. so that's pretty awesome. The plan is also month-to-month and I can cancel my service at anytime if I want. I won't do that but it's there unlike my previous provider.

Yep. Definitely will be staying at an air b&b or whatever while I'm up there, rather than there and back each day! E91 is about to be seeing some miles!

I am planning to move a bit closer, but it'll still be a solid 150mi each way.

Following up on my previous post the other day about my new AT&T fiber service at the house. It's been a week and so far so good. I can't complain about getting this type of WiFi performance on my laptop.

I'm currently in an exam room waiting for my ENT doc to come in and look at my throat. Have been having a strange tightness/pressure in there for about 6 weeks or so.

He'll probably put a scope down in there to take a look. I've had it done before. They spray something in there to numb it so only slightly uncomfortable.

Hopefully it will be a good day. lol

Call them back and say make that box free of you'll leve to their competitor. I used to work for these sorts of companies. Demand the moon and never give up. You can get it.

It is a good day if you come out and they found nothing bad. He said everything looks normal and it's probably muscle strain due to heavy phone use. You know, looking down at your phone. Works for me.

He said you wouldn't believe how many people come in with neck/throat pain and it's due to too much time spent looking down at their phone, so yeah, it's better than throat cancer.
