Unfortunate run in w/ a series of potholes in N. KY. 2.5 hrs from home on the 4th. Used the included roadside assistance (10/10) and the tow company was great (12/10).

The run flat definitely saved the rim while we were getting off the highway.

Towed to the only tire place that was open and got a gently used temp to get us home. Shopping for a new set now.

Added some last min finishing touched to the car for the Kies Auto show in NJ this weekend

Dinan Carbon fiber engine cover and Kies carbon fiber fire extinguisher mount.

I get really bad curl on my front passenger mat that I haven't been able to fix so this will hold it down good.

I had no reference for how much adhesive was going to be under the OEM spoiler and had a similar experience. I ended up using a 3M adhesive remover drill attachment but was still a slow process.

Honestly like the look of the trunk lid more without it before I added the M Performance one, the color matched lip spoiler looks useless and ruins the lines running across the edge of the trunk.

I really never intended to remove it, but my son surprised me with a gloss black spoiler much like the M Sport, thinking the gloss black would better compliment the rest of the black since there's no carbon fiber on the car. I'd agree, except it was a cheap spoiler from eBay and I'm not usually a fan of cheap car parts off eBay (you get what you pay for).

Anyway, it was nice of him to buy it for me and I felt obliged to install it, so I bought some fishing line and removed the OEM lip. In BMW fashion, the double-sided tape was over-engineered and it took about 2 hours of saturating it with Goo Gone and scrapping with my thumbnail to get it off!

Now I'm lining up the new spoiler, taking measurements, and applying small pieces of tape for an outline and this is when I really look at the quality. It's a POS. Sorry son, but I appreciate the thought and I'll pay you back for whatever you spent.

Took a trip to the dealer and inquire about options for the M Sport, and maybe a new application of tape thinking I may put the OEM back on. Turns out the strip of OEM tape costs $25 more than the eBay spoiler, for a total of $175! LOL And then there's the $6-700 M Sport spoiler that needs the K1 Body Kit adhesive (instead of double-sided tape) which is over $300!

With all that in mind, now I'm walking around the car staring at it w/o the OEM lip and I'm really starting to like it naked, so that's how it's going to stay until I decide exactly what I want.

If you check out sites like getBMWparts the M spoiler should be available for around $530ish usually and from my own install you can also use 3M double sided tape + some of their adhesion promoter wipes if you want to be extra safe.

The only tricky part is getting the ends of the wing to sit flush against the bodywork if you go the tape route and trim a few strips to fit at the tips. The mounting surface is angled so the lower half is still flush with the trunk and you end up hiding the notched/wedge shaped angle of the trunk lid.

I would remove the dealer badge and rock w/ no spoiler. I like the clean look.

I went to get coffee and pastries for the F1 race and picked up a giant screw in my tire.

Guess I get to learn how to patch a tire next weekend!

It kinda does look good naky. Though if you’re still considering, I did get a OEM spoiler but used 3M hardcore red pkg type and no problems. Sticking really well.

When my wife and I left the dealership I told her I could probably get away with a quality 3M double-sided thick tape. Didn't like the idea of the M Sport being glued to the trunk.

At this point I'm really thinking I'm going naked. Did the same thing with an STi, but that wing was on a whole other level.

In preparation to do ceramic coating I had my trunk lid and half of my roof compounded because my clear coat in these areas had many tiny divets, possibly caused by tree sap.

My buddy who owns the shop recently got a new ride which was cool to check out - - a 2022 M5 CS

Got a set of Apex SM-10s installed this morning! 19x9.5 ET25 squared and replacing OEM 19x8 797M. Still saved a bit over 4lbs in each corner.

I believe I received 35%. I told the shop "Just do something subtle so I can still see out of it at night." I think he told me he'd do either 30% or 35%.
