I own neither and find your argument silly!
The F87 doesn't need defending (i didnt say YOU were defending, but lots of em showing up all of a sudden) ... I find it strange that so many f87'ers are here attempting to detract from someone else's viewpoint on a newly offered model? Is it an ego thing? Small P...ersonality?
Feel free to like the F87 and its F87 loving "influencers" Some people like the cute little curves of the f87, some like the agressive hips on the G87. I like both!!
But honestly, the only F87 I would be caught owning, is the CS. My mother-in-law has the M2C and i can borrow that whenever I want.
cheer up! There is now more variance in our car choices... I take that as a good thing!
you wouldn't be caught owning anything other then a M2 CS.You drive you're mother inlaws car, K? something about peoples small P.... I dont know what you're going on about.I own a OG and have a G87 on order doesn't mean i dont see the flaws for each model. Go take nap and cool down

I saw an old granny and grandpa in a M3C a few weeks ago.

The new M2 looks a little feminine to me, even the colors are kinda light. It doesn’t look angry and pissed off like the last gen. The last gen reminds me of a rowdy bulldog.

I will still consider it in the future. The design language kinda sucks and I hope they improve it in the LCI.

The only good looking BMW M is the LCI X5M.

looks are subjective but the OG and M2C were universally praised for the design. In saying that, some people find them feminine I think maybe due to size. For me the new one looks aggressive but some how unfinished, like they forgot to add badges, side vents, grill frames and mesh for the front bumper. Yes, wait and see if they re-design at least the front bumper like they did for the M2C, that would solve alot of problems in my book.

I may be crazy, but at least one reviewer said any M2 made in MY23 would get the heritage badges. Is that right? I thought that only the HEAs got them, and all the retail cars were not.

I’m really surprised none of the reviewers complain about the laggy infotainment. All they talk about is whether they like/dislike having a touchscreen, but half the reason people don’t like touchscreen control is because they’re slow and cumbersome. Every video I’ve seen the screen annimations/responsiveness/refresh rate is terrible. How can this be acceptable nowadays!?

Well, that would be me. And also looking at the CT4-V BW and Integra Type S.

I declined a CTR with $2K markup after the ITS was announced just because I wanted something a little nicer, with heated seats, steering wheel, etc. I've been a Honda guy my whole life, but always Accords. Because I'm practical. And boring.

I decided the Cayman was just too small ( so small!). I want a "practical" daily that's also fun. Preferably two doors and a semi-usable backseat.

Something with a clutch that can hold groceries, my bike with the front wheel removed, and two people with luggage for a week away.

That’s good to hear. I’m admittedly judging purely based on the footage shown in these videos. It looks horrendous from what they’re showing.

While its not integrated, its also not flimsy or cheap. While I may be in the minority, I do like it. I think you would have less complaints if the gages were more of a round, old school look/fashion (yes, been debated and the horse is dead).

While I'm not sure about animations/responsiveness, be aware that you cannot judge screen refresh rates from watching videos, the way the LED screen refreshes interferes with the camera and it looks terrible, while it is usually perfectly fine in real life.

Understood, when I said refresh rate I’m more alluding to the ‘lag’ shown when transitioning around menus. It seems the display/content is always lagging behind the reviewer’s finger and takes a split second to catch up. It’s very jarring and reminds me of a cheap Android tablet. BMW aren’t the only culprit, most car manufactures implement outdated/budget tech in this regard.

Agree with this. I love the MPSS tyres, the sidewalls are far superior than the PS4S for feel and turn in.

- A mid pipe would wake up the sound.
- Perhaps a tad more power.

Some may argue that BMW should have engineered these things in the car from the beginning, and I don’t disagree. But, they have been necessary for M cars for a very long time, and they are readily available in the aftermarket.

So pony up another $2k and call it a day. Still significantly cheaper than a GT4.
Agree - car likely needs a couple mods after you've gotten your bearings after delivery.

Mixed reviews on the SSK solutions out there. A good intake will definitely add to the party soundtrack. Honestly weight saving seems more important than ever after the reviews. Mods in mind should be all about that where possible; though they can get quite pricey and rarely are made by the manufacturer.

If they decide they need more tail-happiness, by less grippy rear tires. Problem solved. I'm very happy to learn the car is essentially neutral with great grip. Anyone who has a preference can fix it (understeer, oversteer).
There are also like ten different levels of traction control available through the M Drive Control Menu. It was in the interview with the chief engineer that was posted on the forums a few days ago. He said it’s not hard to get the car to go sideways if that’s the experience you want. Very few of the mainstream reviewers talked about it.

Seems to me all you need to do is turn off the traction control. Once they turned everything off all the reviewers seemed to be sliding from what I saw.

Excellent point. In fact, did anyone turn everything off and demonstrate the cars "natural handling"? Or are they saving it for their own track testing...

This was the press release event. I don’t think any of them did. The last thing BMW wants is bad PR from someone crashing a release press car. When reviewers get their hands on the cars in their own terms is likely when we’ll see the full out reviews of them going sideways.
