And the rest of the numbers listed there. I’ll be comparing these numbers to ‘real world’ impartial test numbers.

Maybe this will give you some perspective:
2020 Z4 M40i, same wheel specs as the Supra, had plenty of wheel spin since it wasn't a drag strip, and Dragy was reading 2 mph slower than the digital gauge in the car (overcast skies may be the cause?).

The US spec Z4 M40i supposedly has 50 more hp than the Supra.

My point exactly. If mine did this on the streets with plenty of wheel spin with dragy reading slightly slow, then it’s completely plausible that on a closed track environment the Supra can hit 0-60 in 3.8 with a 1/4 time of 12.3

No manual and no dual clutch = no care. This isn't an enthusiast car it's a marketing exercise.

hmmm I wonder why Porsche, McLaren, Ferrari, and Lambo (huracan) all use DCT transmissions instead of autos on their sports cars??
ZF is fine for cruising around town. In fact is probably the best automatic on the market. Its great for daily driving. Not so great as a sports car. There is definite lag on downshifts with every ZF 8 speed I've experienced compared with a DCT.

In terms of performance, BMW has judged (right or wrong) that the ZF is also good enough for the Daddy M. Owner reviews I’ve read have been great, so it appears they were right to most people IMO — the real missing piece here isn’t the DCT, it’s the 6MT I think that’s the more compelling argument instead of splitting hairs between the auto boxes |
