Yet, BMW Plant Spartanburg has been producing M cars since 1997. It was the first manufacturing facility to produce M cars outside of Germany.

Come to think of it, neither G42 nor G20 has the ventilated seat option so maybe the Mexico planned is not tooled to have ventilated seat production. I wonder if this is the reason for G87 to not getting the option. Meanwhile German built G80 or US built F97 gets this option.

The majority of seats are manufactured by a 3rd party like the vast majority of the components used to manufacture a BMW or any other vehicle. Lear and Magna are the primary seat manufactures for BMW.

BTW, BMW or any other automotive manufacture produces very little of their own parts.

Do we know if the auto trans has the tiny shifter or the larger "M" shifter? Seems like I have seen references to both.

Man, I was so excited when they revealed thundernight on the 2 series, I thought for sure that would carry over to the M2. I'm still about a year away from an M2 I think so maybe there's a chance they add more colours in that time, TN being one of them. TN with gold wheels

Sadly, additional exterior colors will more than likely not arrive until the LCI.

Funny, I'm usually a bi-color wheel person. But, after seeing the bi-colors on the TR G87 (and previously on a ZB one), to my eyes, the black wheels just suit this platform better. Obviously, it's a matter of personal taste...

What's the verdict on the wireless charging? Is it still considered useless even with ID8?

I am with you. New model. New plant. New workers. Too many news for me. I'll wait for the LCI version. Plus I bought a new M car this year. Maybe they will fix the rear end design a bit on the LCI. But last, not crazy about the current colors.

To each his own. Nevertheless, you are fairly misinformed. You might want to do some research prior to spouting off inaccurate information.

How do you go from saying "to each his own" and then rip the guy by calling him "misinformed" and his opinion as "spouting" inaccuracies.

That's his opinion, he doesn't want a new model year M car that isn't built in Germany, at least until the LCI comes out. Not sure what the issue is with that statement. Lots of people aren't into the first model year and some people have qualms about buying a complicated piece of machinery made in Mexico. Hopefully the car is trouble free so people can confidently buy a later model year car.

And lots of people prefer an LCI BMW regardless of where it's built.

Avoiding a first model year seems kind of dumb to me. No one knows if they will be alive a year from now so why not enjoy something sooner rather than later.. and the car has a full warranty so you have 4-5yrs to figure out if there is some issue with the car that would cost you out of pocket so plenty of time to decide to keep / sell / trade for something else. Buying an M car is about enjoying life and not avoiding risk.
