I had a louder one. Only happened when cold start, valves closed. Dropping to gear killed it. Opening valves killed it (but then got much louder). Found heat shield was touching part of the mid. Addressed that and rattle went away for the most part. There is still more vibration at cold start but the obnoxious rattle went away. I'd have them check that while up on the lift.

A month in, still loving my AA single midpipe. Everyone I've met is in absolute awe of the sound signature. Went back to the shop to check all the clamps were still tight to spec after a few hundred miles. It was perfect. Don't buy anything else, folks.

After careful consideration, I’ve decided to go with AA single non-resonated midpipe purchased from x-ph. Great deals over there and Mike if you’re seeing this, thanks for all the great advice on this forum! I’ll post some before and after once I get it installed 🤘🏼

Stick with a proven solution that works on a track. Akrapovic for example.

Very happy with AA and Mike as well albeit with the equal length not the single. She sounds mean in sport + with trans in D3 for just a midpipe upgrade.

I got my Single AA Midpipe right before Christmas from X-PH and have been driving on it since then; it sounds fantastic, and I love the fact it's still pretty stock-ish sounding in comfort for my morning starts and drives out of the neighborhood. Maybe later, if I crave more, I'll get the rear section, too.

So I've been wondering about the single midpipe. I get that it sounds awesome, and that's a big reason we're getting them for our M2s. But wouldn't it increase back pressure due to creating a single-pipe bottleneck in the middle?

The single midpipe is wider than the individual OEM midpipes, hence the need for a larger clearance brace. You can very clearly see this on the pictures available on the AA website.

Not to mention, you are removing two 90-degree bends going to the single, which is also the lightest option and puts the weight on the passenger side.

Cool thanks for helping me visualize in my head. The AA photos aren't the best IMO. Would be great to see a photo of stock vs. single installed from below. Maybe there's one out there -- so many midpipe discussions maybe I lost it.

Just had non-resonated single AA midpipe installed. Sounds great! I was on the fence between resonated and non, must have watched a hundred videos of all the G8x models.. it's true the video audio do it no justice... It is not raspy, which was my ultimate fear, it's actually more subdued than what I was anticipating.

Next step is the Dahler valve controller for a little extra. Once I get used to that, might have to do the Remus axel back, still waiting to hear some examples of it since the promo videos are pretty much useless.

Are there any decent equal-length AA videos out there?

This is the only video I found of a G87 equipped with AA's equal-length mid-pipe (OEM downpipes and OEM rear muffler).
