They are not mutually exclusive; you can do either one or both.

Yeah, spacers would be the only thing I would do...not comfortable messing with the suspension.

Spacers without suspension will make it looks like you're driving a pickup truck

There are some decent height adjustable springs for the g80 that allow you to keep all the stock dampening functionality.

Spacers are easy to install on BMWs being that they are hub centric and use lug bolts, not nuts. All you need are spacers and longer lug bolts, done.

Trying to run different offsets on cars that have the lugs mounted to the hub and use nuts to mount the wheels are a real PIA, you need to press those out to install longer ones.

The cheapest and most easy way to improve the stance is a set of lowering springs and spacers, they are generally done together.

For instance, with the F87 you would opt for either H&R or Eibach Pro lowering springs and pair them with some Eibach spacers (5, 10, 12 or 15mm) depending on your desired look.

This can also improve the stability of the car and make it better at cornering, as well as sometimes maintaining or evening improving comfort levels compared to OEM.

If you wanna get deeper then you would look into the realm of coilovers which is a massive improvement but that takes you into the thousands.

You can spend 10k on coilovers, brakes and wheels without even trying, it gets silly fast

You'll see some on here denounce springs and claim they do cause excessive wear and damage over time. Then others will tell you they have ran a certain spring for x amount of miles and had no issues.

It can be a grey area with modding, no two cases are the same. I would say myself that they are safe, so many of us have done it without issues but i'm no expert.

I am glad you said that about springs because I have I have had heard and seen videos where people did say spring brought on additional wear and that if they did it again they would have done coilovers.

Follow up question, this staying within 1% only applies to Drive, correct? If I went with rear wheel drive, I would not have to worry about this?

My favorite aftermarket wheel that I've owned is the Volk CE28N Time Attack.

But this is a little DTM car not a JDM muscle car like the 350Z was. If someone could photoshop these on the G87, it might be a hit.

Titan 7 TS-5. Forged. My fav wheel on the F87 platform. 9.5 + 10.5 in width.

It will look awesome on the G87. They should offer a 11 or 11.5 version with the correct offsets (F & R) so people can run 305 tyres

I like those Titan wheels a lot as well as the APEX VS-5TS.

For those getting aftermarket wheels (and even if you aren't) will you be lowering your car? If so, lowering springs or coil-overs? Why one over the other?

Never get wheels without a drop.

100% will be lowering the car. OEM wheels and spacers for me.

I've always done coil overs but we'll see. Springs are a third of the price which make them really appealing.

HAS kit for sure with spacers. Either after market or just will get the MP HAS before I even take delivery. I am currently on MSS without any issues.

How much does that usually run as far as cost goes. Do you have to make any changes when swapping out summer tires and wheels for a winter tire and wheel setup? Sorry never done any of this before so rather new at this.

HAS kits should not take more then 3-4hrs. If they are quoting higher then that find a new shop. I did my front DIY, took me about 2hrs for the front. But rears I didn't have enough room to loosen one bolt, so took it to shop paid $120. I am not running winter wheels but don't think you need any sort of adjustments with wheels. Alignment is recommended after the springs are settled. If you go with MP, all this will be done either at the dealership or VPC before you take delivery.

Thank you for all the info. Yeah, I worry about the warranty (was just googling it) so I think I may get the M Performance set up and have them do it prior to delivery. Thanks again!

Lowering the car will not void warranty.

Thanks, good to know…definitely showing my ignorance on this subject.
