Did you talk to your dealer? Mine was able to find a set, also BMW was selling some in a wheel/tire package.

Also heard maybe calling tire rack might get an inside line.

Is there a big difference (all around) in performance winter tires and performance all season tires? I would assume in snow the snow tires would be better but what about in dry, wet, and when the temps spike?

With the performance winter tyres that are likely the only ones available in sizes to fit the G87, the difference in dry, wet and warm use will be closer to a performance all-season that has any useful winter performance than an all-season is to an extreme performance summer tyre, but the snow, ice and cold performance difference will be bigger.

I know a few people who have run Sottozero Serie II tyres year round with similar to all-season performance in the summer with a downside of tread wear, but much better winter performance.

Interesting, I have been running Continental DWS06 as my non summer tire for the last 7-8 years on various cars and they have done the job. I work from home so I can avoid the bad snow days for the most part but the few times I have been caught out in it, they have performed well. I hated the anxiety from when the temps spiked when I used to run full on snow tires.

Does anyone know of ANY winter tires that will fit on OEM rims? There's absolutely no way I'm buying another set of rims as I already have forged wheels + OEM boat anchors (which I want to put to use).

I see PA5's are available in 275/30/19 but they only have rears in 285/40/20. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Need winters ASAP as snow is already on the ground.

If you're ok with using Tire Rack, they have 2 options:
https://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireS...=WinterSection

Which did you go with? The Pirellis look like they're square setup 20 inch

The Canadian BMW site says $7800+ for the winter package now?!…

Canadian tire has two options available locally, Yokohama and Perelli P Zero’s.
Local dealer has a few to choose from too.

Sidewall will be a bit smaller on the rear. Not sure if that would be an issue.

We’ve been having some mild and mostly snow free winters in NY lately so the benefits of a speed rated performance Winter tire are negligible vs a high performance all season until the temps drop to freezing and below and any snow, sleet, etc and even in very cold DRY conditions. I want a dedicated performance winter to be prepared for worst.

PMCtire.com has Pilot Alpin 5 tyres available in 275/35-19 size for CAD$463 per tyre, if you go with 19" wheels all around.

I couldn’t find tires anywhere, like you. So I decided to pull the trigger on the kit.

If you think you can sell your stock wheels, you should get the dealer kit. Otherwise, maybe you can buy a pair of 20” tires from tire rack. You can either pick it up at the border or have it delivered in Canada.

The dealer kit is 19” front and back, and the tires are 275 all around (although the wheels are wider in the back). Costs $4450 before taxes. If you can sell your wheels for like $1500, you can buy the kit at the dealer and pay $3k for the tires, and TPMS that come with it.

It’s a risk if you don’t have a buyer for your wheels.

I would never sell stock wheels, need them for when I strip the car back to stock one day and part out everything. Wont be keeping this car forever. Definitely going to keep searching for just tire options, don't want three sets of wheels :/

I wonder how stupid it would be to mix and match tires.. the 19'' Alpin 5's are great but only match the fronts. For rears I would have to go with PA4's or a different brand. Better than using summers in snow but probably pretty dumb?

Winter tyres are the trickiest to mix, as the compound choices and friction modifiers vary a lot between manufacturers. I definitely wouldn't mix wicking style compounds that trap water in the rubber surface (like Blizzak WS series) with abrasive treads that use silica or ground walnut shells in the rubber, as the grip characteristics change quite differently with surface type and temperature.

I've also found something like a Michelin Xi3 tyre is completly different in handling characteristics than a Sottozero 3, having a higher grip level in braking, but abrupt loss of traction beyond the grip limit in both braking and cornering, compared with the much more benign characteristics of the Sottozero, even if the braking grip is a bit less.

The biggest problem overall for the M2 is trying to find 20" winter tyres for the rear. It is much easier if going to 19" wheels all around.

I looked at the 275/30/20 for the rear but mismatched brand/models front and rear on Tire Rack, except for the Vredestein Wintertrack pro. Never ran them before. I could get away with All Seasons but will regret if we get a really cold and wet winter. I do have other cars for winter but always like to be prepared with winter tires, even if I don’t drive it much.

BMW is offering 19/20 forged 826M winter wheel set now, complete with TPMS. I'm getting those for my M2, not just for the winter tires but also for the wheels themselves.
