This is a huge myth that BMW invented the sport sedan.....remeber the victors are the ones who write the history

I would probably buy the BMW that sold in the $30k - $40k price range that was built in place of the 3 series. Since the 3 series makes up like 60% of all BMW sales, they would have to have something in this market segment. Whatever that was is probably what I would have bought.

There seem to be a lot of e90post members who "look up" to Porsches, but to me, those are entirely different cars that would never replace my e90 unless they came in 4-doors. The Cayenne has such a poor reliability rating, that I'd consider it a waste of money.

I would definitely consider the FX35, because aside from its quirky egg-shaped looks, it handles and performs like a sports sedan.
I agree with you - BMW and Porsche are like a hammer and a screwdriver. Each are great tools, but with a very specific, different function. Sure you can use them interchangable if you want to (i.e. drive a nail in with a screw driver) but the result will be poor....As long as I live "North" a Porsche would only be considered as a second car...not a daily driver.

If I didn't have my 3 series, I'd likely get another Acura TL...I had 2 others prior to my 330i.

just curious then,

who did??? I'd guess the bmw that is claimed to have "invented" the sports sedan would have been the 2002, and it's predecessor the 1600 and variations in the mid 60's

My wife offered me a deal...move from New Jersey and I could get the 645 (my favorite car). But I like living where I live and ended up getting the 3 series. So it would have been the 6 series

ok i looked at an sti and i love it. the seats fit me perfect and i can see great. the interior is sporty but not cheap feeling. not to mention it would kick my car's ass on or off the road. that's what i'd get if it weren't for the e90.
