Go take a test drive and you'll see why. The CT4V-Blackwing in particular is a great handler!
I can appreciate that…just no interest in a 4 door.

My 2022 CT4BW spec comes to $72,615.
My 2022 CT5BW spec comes to $96,390.

In comparison…

My 2023 M340i spec is $67,920
My 2023 M3C spec is $85,645
My 2023 M550i spec is $96,695
My 2023 M5C spec is $119,750

I think Cadillac priced these well. They undercut their "true M" competition… as they should. Personally I'd still rather have an M340i and $5k than a CT4BW; just as I'd rather have an M550i over a CT5BW. I can understand others choosing the opposite though.

CT5-V Blackwing is the special one. Waitlists are ridiculous and you are unlikely to get one for MSRP anytime soon.

I have my name on a list for a Z06 and GT4, but it will probably be 2-3 years (if ever) before my name is called and honestly when push comes to shove I will probably pass due to the added financial responsibility I feel with a second kid just arriving.

In the meantime, I am #3 on my dealers lists for the G87 at MSRP and it's where I am currently leaning. Even though it's a completely different animal, I really like the more understated design of the new Civic Type R and having 4 doors and the practicality of a Honda is enticing. I am curious what others are cross shopping and whether any of you had wheel time in the previous generation Type R and think its underwhelming coming from an M2.
Worth the wait for the Z06. Listen to that exhaust!

Get the manual, you won't regret it.

Only way I see the auto being justified is if it's a dedicated track car.

Chevy dealers are already quoting $50,000 - $75,000 over MSRP.

No thanks.

Was also looking at the rs3 but decided to pass. Don't need 4 doors as I have a maxima for DD.

C7 is so enticing with the targa top and exhaust note. I'm really battling not picking up a grand sport before the g87 enters production.

I'm 3rd in line at my dealer for the g87
I have a cammed C7 vette, the ability to take out the targa, row the gears and hear that great V8 is amazing. I don't see selling mine anytime soon. They are incredibly reliable and fun cars to drive.

Cross shopping between the new Supra MT and the G87 M2 MT. Given that I already have a daily beater and don't need the extra space, I suppose it comes down this: do I want the superior chassis of the Supra or the superior engine of the M2? tough choice...

LOL what makes you think the Supra has a superior chassis than the G87?

The supra rear frame is an absolute disaster and needs a lot of work to make it solid enough to be compliant on the track.

Now that the G87 has been revealed I am starting to take a serious look at some alternatives starting with the RS3.

Having two little kids and living in New England, I really should be looking at a 4 door non-rwd vehicles (M3 x-drive is outside of budget), but I was really hoping the entire G87 package between manual, carbon buckets and individual colors (or at least colors that I like better than is offered) would make the convenience compromise worth it. I am OK with the G87 design (don't love it, don't hate it) but I am starting to wonder if the RS3 might make more sense. Right now the big selling point for the M2 is the manual, but since my wife doesn't drive a manual she is pushing for the RS3.

Curious for those that have driven an RS3 would you still choose an M2 in auto over it?

I've tried to take an RS3 on a test drive but have come up empty as dealers have not wanted to put miles on the RS models.

My wife wants a new car, so I’m cross shopping most of the cars mentioned: M2, M4, RS3, Cayman. But for what could be the last hurrah of the ICE, nothing is really exciting me the way the OG M2 did.

I’m now thinking maybe a 997 Turbo. Her only requirements are automatic and no mom cars

Just started cross shopping with a G80 M3… might be better for taking family on weekend joy rides… debating if the extra 2 doors is worth $7K+ more to me

Mine wasnt thrilled when I got her the M240. She said I dont need a car like that. Now, she uses the different sport modes and gets upset when I drive it, I hear, "why are you driving my car?"

Ok so my cross-shopping is kind of weird. I was specing out a Taycan Cross Tourismo, which I think is the best sport wagon in the world. The goal was a one-car-can-do-it-all sort of thing -- replace my X3 for hauling family, going skiing, taking the dogs to the park, etc. Once the G87 became a reality, I'm keeping the X3 for the family stuff, and the M2 will be my warm-weather play car. In other words I'm solely focused in the G87 and not cross shopping anymore.

The wife of over 36 years has expressed her wishes to get a new vehicle to replace her beloved 2012 VW GTI Autobahn that we purchased new in 2011. Her prior vehicle was a 2002 BMW (E39) 5 series we bought new in 2001. She keeps her vehicle for long periods of time. However, she is very frugal and does not want to spend over 70k for her next vehicle. As they say happy wife, happy life. I drive a 2018 M5 (F90) that I purchased new in August of 2018 and my prior vehicle was a 2015 BMW (F80) M3 also purchased new in July of 2014. I have owned a plethora of new Corvettes with the first one being a 1991 (C4) Corvette coupe and the last being a 2014 (C7) Corvette Z51 coupe.

We had a chance to look at the soon to be released M2 at Crevier BMW back in November of 2022. Looks will always be subjective but my wife was no a big fan of the front and rear design, again looks are subjective to each one of us.

So, what is my wife considering, we test drove the following:
2023 BMW M240i, 2023 BMW M340i, and 2023 Mini Cooper JCW mini and Clubman. Out of the 3 aforementioned vehicles the M240i at 57k is her first choice. We are going to look at 2023 MK8 Golf R this weekend and I honestly believe this is the direction she will go since she loves her current GTI. She was disappointed when I sold the F80 M3 for my current F90 M5. She does not like the large size of the M5.

Back in 2018 I was considering a new Porsche 911 S coupe with a MSRP of 150k. I was able to negotiate a 7% discount from the MSRP, however the discount on my F90 M5 was 10% with an additional 1k check from the BMW CCA. Truth be told I enjoyed the comfort of the M5 over the 911. I also drove a Cayman GTS. For those of you who are needing a 4 door do it all car the current M5 should be on your short list.

It also overheats on the track, a race shop near me tracks them. They have every aftermarket cooler on the car and after 3 laps the car is heat soaked. I take my F80 to the track and have none of those issues.
