TR manual, Track Pack + Comfort with the bi-colour wheels. Likewise, it'll be my daily.

Besides the carbon bucket seats, there isn't anything else in the Track Pack that would make a difference from a daily driving perspective, though.

I was informed today that the car will be held until the UK launch :-(. I'm guessing you'll get the same story AndyDubbya but at least it gives me more chance to get it PPF'd and swap out the tyres to something a little more 'daily-able' than the Cup 2s.

Yep that's pretty much it. My dealer told me tonight as I raised the question last week on the back of the Youtube video from BMW UK stating that the launch was in June. They won't be able to register/tax/deliver the car until the official launch but I've yet to find an exact date :-(

According to my chat with BMW today my car will be built on 15th April and will be available for collection on 25th June (I'm guessing that this is the UK launch date as no-one can confirm this) but it's a Sunday!!

I placed my order for a BSM M2 mid-November '22, the first one taken at my chosen BMW dealership and I even got a c3% discount off MSRP - thought that was a good result.

I was initally advised May delivery, but took that with a pinch of salt. I'm now being advised it's pushed out to late August or early September.

Then the M2 press reviews came out, they didn't exactly blow me away. A lot of the UK press also commented that the firm ride on UK roads may be a further negative.

I got a PCP quote for a new M4 xDrive; with just another £1k deposit, it's the exact same cost monthly as the M2.

BMW Finance pricing is cheaper on the M3/M4, as opposed to the c10% APR on the new M2.

I'm starting to think it's a no-brainer to cancel the M2 order a place an order for the M4 xDrive, especially now that it also has the updated infotainment.

I think it’s worth waiting to drive the M2. I always think to myself, these guys drive everything including the top top HyperCars and so maybe not a fair comparison.

Yes, that's another reason why i've not yet pulled the trigger on the M2 order cancellation.

The press reviews aside, all I can think about since last Sunday is the numbers: I can buy a brand new, M4 Competition xDrive specced exactly how I want for pretty much same money.

For those in the UK, there's a few dealers offer massive discounts on M3s/M4s - but it's actually the BMW Finance pricing on each models that's making the big difference.

Yes, you can pick up a really good deal if you look around.

But the M4 Competition xDrive I have a quotation on is specced how I want, with the iDrive 8 (I want the new curved screen and updated infotainment).

The (well-known) BMW guy I got my quotation from basically said that BMW/BMW Finance have shot themselves in the foot with the finance residuals and costs for the M2, especially as the rest of the comparable M-range (i.e. M3/M4, X3M) are holding better value and at cheaper new money cost.

I don't want to sound like i'm M2 bashing, i'm not. There's a lot of those trolls on here that like to do that. I was really looking forward to the M2, but in my head I can't look past the numbers now.

To help those is the UK, just posted this in another thread re my dilemma on the cost:

In round numbers (with both cars specced how I want):

M2
- £64,515.
- £6,451 Deposit.
- £898 x 48-months.

M4 Competition M xDrive
- £76,990 (£14,330 discount).
- £7,699 Deposit.
- £898 x 48-months.

Therefore, like-for-like, i'd literally being paying only £1,248 more for the M4 over 4-years of ownership.

Where did you find the deals with those discounts? It is definitely tempting just because the M4 is a more expensive car so it seems like a bad deal, but the whole reason I went for an M2 is because you can get a manual. It’s just a shame how bad the finance rates are on the M2.

I thought the residuals on the M2 might negate some of the cost but the reviews weren’t exactly a home run so I’m a bit less optimistic on that now. I was hoping for something similar to the rs3 in terms of demand.

Yes, when I placed my M2 order and saw the PCP breakdown I thought it was a bit pricey and residual low but went ahead anyway thinking the car will get 'out the park' reviews and demand for it will be high.

The reviews were anything but, and i'm not even relying on the Instagram car guys that get cars thrown at them by manufacturers all expenses paid.

Then when I shopped around this past week for the M4, when I saw the PCP breakdown my heart sank.

I don't have lottery money and I can't ignore that I feel like i'm paying way over the odds.

As of right now, I think i'm going to cancel the M2 order on Tuesday (it's a holiday long weekend in the UK, for those reading in the US).

Re the deals i found for the M4, they're not hard to find.

Checked today via the chat and I'm now at status 153:

"This means your new car has now progressed to final assembly, where your chosen specification is being fitted."

The estimated delivery week is 25, which commences on the 19th of June 2023.

And now... "The current order status is 160 - vehicle handover to sales. This was updated on the 12.04.2023-
This means your new car has now been built and is in the process of being transferred to our logistics partners for delivery"

Woohoo!
