My m240i build moved from "entering assembly line" to "assembly in progress" to "quality check" between Friday and today. Anticipation!

Same here. Waiting patiently for it to change. BMW Genius told me it's because there is a part on backorder that isn't a additional option.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that our cars begin to move through the rest of the process without further delays!

Mine was in quality check for only about 3 days. Sounds like BMW has some explaining to do to some of you.

It entered Ready for transport on 12/10. I ordered on 11/22, so 18 days from ordering to complete.

No idea how long it will take to actually get to the dealership but I'm thinking another 4 weeks.

For reference in case someone can figure out what options hold it up, this is my spec:

Brooklyn Grey
Cognac SensaTec
19" M double-spoke jet black wheels style 791M with run-flat tires
Premium package
Parking Assistance package
Shadowline package
Aluminum Tetragon trim
Drive recorder
Harmon Kardon surround sound
M sport brakes with red calipers

Progress

My 230i is zipping through from production number to final assembly in about 2 weeks. I'll be happy if I get it by Feb.

My 230i entered the production queue on 12/9, dealer tells me the expected completion is 12/20. I had originally ordered the dynamic handling option (brakes and diff), then changed my mind and removed it. The next day it hit production. Not sure if that was a coincidence or if it was being held up due to supply issues.

No information on which part. I can only assume the microchip. However, BMW Genius does not list that as a reason for delay nor list anything else. They see no work stoppage or vehicle being on hold. They are looking further into this and said they would get back to me by Thursday. We will see.

I spoke with a genius earlier today and they said my car has a work order once it reaches the Galveston Processing center. I asked what it was and they were pretty vague , but said that due to supply chain issues / shortages etc. it's quicker and easier for BMW to send the part to processing vs sending it to the factory for install. Said it's less than a day of work, but if there is issues with getting the part, the car will stay at processing. Couldn't get info on what type of "part" , but sounds like something pretty significant - possibly a chip as others have suggested.

Do you know if yours is still available or still attached to your name?

And you did do the Cerium Grey wheels with performance non run flats right?

It just shows as AG Standard Wheel and Tire which I thought was odd.

Thank you
I ordered my car on 12/14 with the 792 wheel and performance non RFT and it shows up as "AG Standard Wheel and Tire" on my tracker as well.

I had to call BMW Genius as my CA is out of office for a few days to confirm that their internal system shows the right tire choice in the order.

Scheduled for production in Week 3 currently.

They said the same thing to me, except that they would get back to me today. They did, just to say there's nothing they can tell me beyond that parts are needed.

Dallas didn't do the swap I wanted but I switched my wheels to the 792s with non RFTs and it also shows that AG Standard Wheel and Tire too now. I can't say that I understand why that has a different way to describe the wheel/tire combo but that does appear like it is the correct nomenclature for the 792s with non RFT.

Today I modified my order to the Tacora Red seats, and the performance non RFTs. My CA wasn't sure if it would delay my build date or not but wasn't expecting it to due to it being a minor change of interior color and tire option.

That is the same song and dance they gave me after saying they will look into it and get back with me.

Sucks that the swap didnt work out for you and thanks for confirming that you are seeing the same description as I do for the wheel/tire combo.

There is definitely some difference between the order guide and the actual options in the build. For instance, the order guide never called out for a mobility kit with the non-RFT's for the 240i but it looks like we do get one atleast based on the tracker.

I was lucky in finding a dealer that had a current allocation. Ordered a M240 12/1/2021, it waited in "scheduled for production" for a few day, then entered production and sailed thru that quickly and i was glad to see it move thru the dreaded "quality control" holdup. It finished production 12/17/2021 and moved into ready for transport on 12/20/2021. Does anyone know if BMW vehicles to the west coast (US) are transported by rail or by ship (from the Lazaro Cardenas port). I was on a site by the Kansas Southern railways and they claimed they ship by rail 85 percent of all cars manufactured in Mexico that are destined to US?? They do have a line running from San Luis Potosi thru central US.
