kscarrol your watch's older sibling.
Literally just walked in the house from the Omega store. Picked up my 10 year old Seamaster from a full service. Looks absolutely like new. Couldn't be more pleased. Had the same done to my 25 year old Tag. They finished servicing it yesterday and should be back home in 2 days.

My one "nice" watch is a Baume and Mercier Capeland S Automatic.

Looking to buy back a pre owned Panerai again or maybe hold out and buy something cheaper in the interim.

What do you guys think of the Tag Heuer Carrera or Aquaracer? Carrera is 38mm GMT automatic at $1550, the Aquaracer is Quartz (I know...) in stainless at $1650.

Or should I hold out another year and get a Panerai Luminor Marina for around $5k?

Open for suggestions. I just really miss the Daylight.
Not really knowledgeable on Panerai, but of those choices, and with a $5K limit, I'd go with that. Nice watch.

Panerai > Carrera > Aquaracer

Wearing my Zenith El Primero Rainbow Flyback today. Not sure why it looks so huge on my wrist...the watch is actually quite compact.

Couldn't tag you, ex-mini. Didn't want to derail this thread, so can you go check this out? Thanks.

Nice AP. Love the chrono with that dial hand colour combo. A friend of mine has the same on a black strap. I'm tempted...

I'll play. Christopher Ward C60 Trident GMT Automatic. Pretty cheap compared to all of those Rolex and Omega watches but I like it.

Price, as with everything else, is just a detail. If you like it, that's all that counts. And what's not to like?

Here's my PO. First proper watch, but already got eyes on 2, 3 & 4 for my collection, all 1950-70s vintage.

Or not. Clearly I can't get images to work!

Was handling a few Bremonts in Chester (UK) the other week. They feel absolutely bomb-proof. I walked away with the nice hardback catalogue. I think there is a feeling on some watch forums that they don't warrant such high-prices, seeing as they don't make their movements in-house, and a lot of their marketing seems to be aimed at forging a history and connections to industries like aviation, that others genuinely have*.

But I reckon good luck to them. They look, feel and wear great. I think I would...

*Albeit a purely historical one. I mean, who now put someone into space relying purely on a wrist-watch? And how many professional racing teams use mechanical stopwatches? Divers with dive computers... no-one needs a mechanical watch nowadays for a traditional purpose. And even as a back up...let's face it, a quartz jobby would do the job just fine (if not better!!!!) But who buys stuff like this because we need it, right?

I tried a few on in NYC and was impressed. Think the prices are a bit high for some of the "aviation connection" bullshit but really nice watches. I tried on one that had a piece of the kitty hawk plane inside the case. Kind of cool I guess but hard for me to pay a premium for that sort of thing.

Hehe... yeah. I am the same way. I like to pay for the horological content, not the historical content. If I want a piece of the Kitty Hawk, or the Moon, or some meteorite, I will get that separately. I kind of want my watch to be a watch. Not judging people who do like that, it is just not something I value.

Because I tried posting the pics here, I'll ask the question in this thread: why won't links to pictures on Google Photos work? What am I doing wrong?!

Using app or web? App screws up picture links - turns them to urls. I post them in the app, then go to mobile browser to edit out the tags. Or, I just temporarily save to my Photos app, then post them as attachments.
