I do love tourers in white. I've just ordered an F11 520d M Sport in alpine white for the family car.

So then, removed the front splitters today and I'm refitting securely tomorrow so they can't be removed by any pesky thief!

Wanting to upgrade the sound system next but there's far too much to read into I'm not sure what route to go down ! 😔

I like where you are going with this Chris.
What coding were you thinking of doing?
I fancy getting my folding mirrors coded so they fold on locking and unlocking the car.

Iain,

Thankyou for that! I'm thinking of getting Wayne's ( Wayne g on here) electric mirrors as its one of the options I wish mine had, so I would be doing the additional wiring and coding needed to get these operational and folding off the key too,
I am wanting to remove the amber led's on the corner of my headlights,
Turn on instant mpg and true speed on the clocks,
Just some annoying things BMW should have done which is getting the windows to still be operational when I open the door, wipers to end their cycle when the engine gets turned off, angels on full brightness when DRL's are on,

And when I finally make my mind up in a sound system I will need to recode my CIC to hifi to produce flat signals

I didn't know the drl's weren't full brightness.
I'll have to look into this a lot more.
Need to start a thread on my new car once I get round to it.
Would love to upgrade the sound system.
I used a blaupunkt amp and wiring on my old E60 530d but didn't really make much difference cause I didn't upgrade anything else with it.

Window operation after ignition is off and remember stop/start setting are other good options to turn on.

If you have the basic sound system. The alpine is a very good and simple upgrade for under £300.

Yes you can up the voltage on them to run higher, also with sidelights and dipped beam the Angels dim to half power, I want them at full all the time.
Yeah it's ok the sound system I just want real clarity as I am well into my music, it plays chart stuff half decent but anything with a bit of kick it struggles so I need to save up for it definitely!

Hi buddy, yeah already done the start stop feature as it does my head in! But the software wants tits up on my mates laptop so need to reinstall it to carry on with further coding!
I need to hear the alpine upgrade and see if it's worth it or whether It'll be more beneficial to go full custom!

Thanks Mate! My Mrs hates the fact I'm so into my cars she can't see the cost of the mods to reflect in anything! All I get is "you paid how much for that!?"
I've always had all my cars tip top as I read into them a lot before buying and also once bought about upgrades and preventive maintenance etc so you've no worries there!

Coding

Hi,
I invested £30 ish on the BMWWhat app (Carly) and activated most of the things you want. My mirrors now fold off the fob, instant mpg, digital speedo etc. You can do the brightness of the angel eyes and wiper options and so on.. well worth the small cost versus dealer coding.

Hi Keith,
Thanks for the info but a very good friend already has NCS which I use, it gives me full coding capabilities, just need to sort his software version out in the next week or so but I'll look into this Carly app, do you not need the app as well as the dongle? Therefore making it circa £80?

No worries, I actually got an ELM327 wifi adaptor (I think!) off Amazon for a fiver that works perfectly...

I've got the Carly app and adapter, cost me a fair bit in total but its definitely worth it!
Need to buy/download the DPF in app 'add on' aswell which will be useful.

Done quite a few things to mine, pretty similar to what you said:
Instantaneous MPG
Digital speedo
Unlock/Locking chirp
Fast flashing brake lights under harsh braking
Windows to function when door opened
Start/stop settings saved every journey (Constantly off)
DRL's

Probably a couple of other things that I have forgot!

Also have the 'Torque pro' app which works with the adapter so I can diagnose any other car manufacture too! Just a good thing to have!

Thanks for the write up Wayne, (still need to get some money for your mirrors!)

I'd probably buy the app and adaptor but I love my retrofits and its sound system next so I'll be adding things to my VO so I'd need NCS to do this as I doubt the adaptors tor talking about have these capabilities?
Chris.

I've had interest in them on eBay but no one has pulled the trigger yet so they could be yours still!
Much rather them go to someone from here tbh. Had a few people asking me if i'll split them and also had some ridiculously low offers off some absolute clowns.

Yeah It would be awesome if you could do that with the adaptors!
