more reason to support your local indie shop. I only went to the dealer for the scheduled maintenance, and now that I am out of warranty, I haven't been back other than to see the new car lineup.

In other words, were not improving the quality, reliability, and cost of ownership of our cars and their drivetrains and we know it. Here's your earlier maintenance bill, "valued" customer...

Are they not confident in their product? Or are they losing money on the repairs? The way to counter that is by not cutting the warranty drastically but actually ensuring that the cars that leave the factories are built to last. This way people will move away from BMW Lease.

Just to clarify, the warranty has not changed and remains at 4yr/50k. But the service maintenance got skinnier.
Not surprised, BMW has won the luxury car crown the last several yrs, why offer up free services that don't make cents....

If I'm to lease a BMW it would have to be this year. I like everyone on here most likely will lease a M and for me I personally think its great that I don't have to worry about brakes in maintenance. But once that option is taken away I would be more open to considering other vehicles when I am ready to purchase a vehicle. Increase in MSRP on some models + the new revision on leasing = a recipe to loose customers. |

some customers wont be affected it seems, like those that dont drive their car as hard or as much. but we can estimate a good chunck will be, even if is a "free" wiper or one time break change during their lease.
Other people affected will be those who do the BMW Select financing...Which that should be freaking illegal anyway lol. That program probably dies with the new maintenance program.

I purchased an Audi for my wife in May and we both agreed after 4 months it was the worst decision car decision in the past 10 years (Volvo was the first 13 yrs ago), we should have spent $5k more for a BMW. Part of the reason was the maintenance package and 'ease' of owning a BMW, just tires - drive it and don't worry (I always changed the oil between services anyway). Now....I don't know, I've only used one of the services that are being cancelled (brakes). Who goes through engine belts anyway? Audi has the same disclaimer, on top of the intercoolers which I think is BS. It definitely puts MB back in the running or at minimal something to consider. I still won't buy another Audi unless its an RS model.
Edit: if it's just service and a non factor why bother cancelling it? Last edited by bjcarls; 01-07-2016 at 02:40 PM.. |
