I agree 100%. Which goes inline with my 1st post:

Put it on if you want. I'm not a badge guy (debadge everything) so I'm not a good one to ask. Not sure Dinan badges were really EVER cool, y'know?

But yeah, the warranty stuff is why people pay the extra for it when the car is new. Are there better cheaper parts out there? Of course.

Sandia BMW just replaced my n63tu under route 66 warranty. Not a single question was raised about the mods because they were all Dinan.

Would I rather have better stuff? Eh, the car is fast and I don't race it. As expensive as it is when it breaks which is always I would rather have the warranty. I will get rid of this car before the warranty is up.

Would I go put Dinan parts on my m3? Maybe if they were free or next to it.

They are not anywhere near as collectible as Hartge, AC Shnitzer, Alpina, or Racing Dynamics. At least for older BMWs.

I wanted a Dinan car when I was younger and couldn't afford one. Now I'm old(er) and am on the fence about getting the tune because the warranty isn't what it used to be & my new 2021 is under warranty until 2028.

Hmm... interesting thought. Most of the guys on the team, they know I've been building this stupid car (blown motor when I got it) and rebuilding it since. Maybe 6 months? Oh, and I quote, "So... it's a certified shit box!" (the front bumper is off it every other week, half the time the fenders are off, etc etc. I'm DOING STUFF ok!?) -- but it's nearing proper completion, which is why I asked. Considering one of them has a (thanks BAT) 100k+ E30 M3 with literally everything, a green E46 M3 (probably a 75k car?) that was fun to chase down with my E63 M6 (which no one cares, at all, even a little, but I love that car), among other REALLY NICE bmws that some built, some bought ...is it the right thing to badge, with the fleet of cars to park with the rest of the team

My analogy was very clear. If you don't understand it I can't help you...but I bet a DINAN badge would help

If you enjoy your car then cool. I wouldn't Dinan badge it though if it didn't already have one.

Get an e24 m6 though.

I've kind of enjoyed it so far -- learned a ton, surprised the ever-loving hell out of my wife (she'd never seen this level) and her family still doesn't believe it (fun times)... it's been a ton of work, but no, it didn't have the badge when I got it. Also, the previous owner had no idea what he was doing and I'm pretty sure the place he took it to had no business touching any car. Bonus, this car wasn't even running when I got it (the drive belt did that inject the crank gasket, oil starvation, metal bits everywhere, ...made for a great set of youtube videos though).

With the work I've put into it, it's kind of a crazy frankenstein. M sport parts, e92 M3 parts, F8x M3/M4 brakes, calipers, on top of the dinan parts. When I realized I could slap a Dinan badge on it, I couldn't remember seeing ANY E9xs with it -- that lead me to the question.

Sigh, I know. I'd love to have all 3 M6s in my garage.

It just isn't as relevant anymore.

20 years ago.....few companies made performance upgrades for BMW. Now, you can get a race-chip or ECU remap for a fraction of the cost of Dinan and it gives you a ton more power than Dinan, as well.

It's just the rest of the industry caught up to them. I believe DINAN used to be the only company whose aftermarket mods didn't void your OEM warranty. Not sure if this is still the case.

Dinan mods always voided your OEM warranty. Dinan warranties the parts to match the factory time period.

DINAN will also void their own warranty if you have something else installed on your car that isn't theirs.

Doesn't matter if the part is related to the issue or not.

I always found the badge gaudy and unattractive. Even if I had all the dinan parts I wouldn't stamp it on my trunk.

Less is more
