I don't know what to think in all honesty. My initial reaction was 'it's not actually too bad'. But, should that be my reaction? Shouldn't I be 'wow!'? When I first saw the last 2 series I immediately fell in love with it. I think I went into this generation expecting garbage and came out surprised that it wasn't 'too bad'.

That said, all looks good/ok except the rear. It just looks cheap and awkward. Tbh, there is something odd about the overall aesthetic that looks a bit cheap. Similar to the current 1 series. Also, being 400-500lbs heavier than previous generation… that's not good progress. I still have high hopes for the M2 but equally not getting my hopes up.

I don't think they will fit the current generation

Just thought I'd mention that
Huh? Looks like they fit the G42 which is what matters here.
Yessir

My understanding is the offset changed on the G Series so no intermixing of the old and the new

I really like it. My biggest gripe are the giant black side skirts. They need to be body color.

Great looking new 2 series. It’s a very unique design but still looks like a BMW.This is definitely a much extreme sports car design, especially the M240i compared to the current 2 series. Can’t wait until we get a look at the new G87.

The styling is interesting. To me, it makes the G8X look more restrained (…contrary to other opinions). I don't hate it though. The designers at BMW have truly been given carte blanche to create truly interesting design schemes. This 2 in M240 guise will stand out for sure.

So just to confirm, BMW will continue to market both this and the F44 as "2 series". Despite the fact that they are in no way whatsoever related or similar. Ok.

4.1s for the M xDrive model?!? Sandbagging much? Or maybe it's just that overweight?

Since peeps are listing what they hate or don't like, here's my list of what I do like.

-love the kidney grill, the inside vent pattern detail is cool.

-I like the headlights, switches things up for a change a la the Z4

-I like the power dome…adds some soft aggression

-love the metal stamping, the front fender bulge slowly disappearing into the door is superbly executed

What'll take some more time for me:

-Rear end/bumper is a tad busy…I prefer the 230i's version

-taillights I'll need to see in person

-large side sills are a tad clunky/chunky compared to the rest of the taught design

-effing weight distribution seems like it's inching more and more away from 50/50

Overall I love it. BMW's still making a vehicle in this segment so I shan't complain (much) 🙂

Yes if you go to their website it's about as confusing as it can get

Not sure why they can't separate the two literally instead of marketing them together as if they're one of the same thoroughbred family

If the tail lights were upside down, this would fix the rear for me! This is probably an easy aftermarket fix though!

I hate to say it but BMW is turning me off more and more. These new designs are really awful.

Who put this line here?

For me once again, none of the lines on the car seem to flow - seems to be a common theme with the G series cars. The front doors look like they were taken off another car and just slapped on for example, it just ends weird.

At least the 3.0 is still around 😄

The front is okay, the interior is a huge upgrade, but that rear end is really akward. I have no idea how the management could approve this tail design.
