While there's no specific date that I've seen, everything does mention a November launch for US. Curious if this is why we haven't seen any driving reviews. Would make sense. I just assumed "reviewers" would have an early access starting around this month to create content/interest (not sure how all that works) for the launch date.

Mine has been in "production begins" for a couple of days. How does BMW determine when they start actual production? All of the same model? Same color for the paint booth?
By order date? Dice roll? Just curious.

My dealer said mine will be the first 2 Series to come through their floor and asked if they can highlight it in their social media. I hope that motivates them to "forget" about the release date!

IDK why/what, but the "when" of it is about 9-14 days languishing in this step of Production Begins. At least from what I could garner from the other orders and mine. Who knows, the log jam I sat in broke and maybe all move to being built sooner. You'll probably not see some of the initial assembly steps (exterior panels and paint), but she'll be there soon...just not soon enough, huh?

I've never ordered a car built to my specs before. I always thought it would take at least 6 months to a year. ( Not jinxing myself &#129310.
This process seems pretty quick despite my day to day impatience. I think it's gonna feel pretty fantastic when it arrives. I turned in my 19' 240 lease already, so I'm driving my wife's Mazda CX30 in the interim. Not a bad little CUV, certainly more entertaining than her Honda HRV 😩, but I will be sooo ready for a real driver's car!

Well, we Americans don't "queue" as well as you do😄.
I don't think we could have ordered any earlier than September.
I am hoping for November/December, but January would not surprise me much with the state of the global supply chain.
BMW's calendar in general seems pretty mysterious and capricious.

Oh I wish. I in Texas, from Google map it says it only takes 13 hr drives. Instead the car needs to get on a ship, that is literally another two to three weeks more

Get ready to wait. I'm still there and my SA said it isn't uncommon to stay in Ready for Transport 2-3 weeks 😑 Not like it's a big deal, but the closer it gets… the more impatient I get 🤣

Ordered a 230i on 9/20. Entered production on 9/24.

Specs:
230i
M Sport Trim
Alpine White
Cognac SensaTec
Dynamic Handling Package (blue calipers)
Moonroof Delete
No other options/packages (Convenience Pkg rolled in with M Sport trim, but sans moonroof on my car)

Updated in a repost, but for more visibility here...It took one month to get my car ordered to built. Ordered on 9/20, and today on 10/19 it is Ready for Transport. I am unaware of the XM/Sirius Radio equipment folks have been chatting about, but the cars coming as is.

Thankfully, my car is coming on a boat to the East Coast (Baltimore), so I won't have to worry about the issues in Long Beach.

I was looking back over the "vehicle inquiry report" the sales manager sent me when I preordered, and it looks like the listed port of entry is Brunswick, GA (the code on the form was SSIPOA).

Then its a quick 300 miles to the dealer in Greenville, SC.

The port on my form is BALPOA, does that mean my car is coming into Baltimore?

This is my first ordered car (well dealer ordered but still...), what is the 1800 #, and do they have info that doesn't show on the MyBMW site?

It's the BMW genius hotline and the only real difference is they have more "accurate" info and provide the name of the vessel that your vehicle is being shipped on, best I can tell. This is also my first dealer ordered car as well. I've just gathered all of this reading through the 3-series forum. In regards to the accurate statement, they told me my car was loaded on the ship yesterday…. But the website didn't update my tracking until this afternoon. So really only a day behind.. but I figured sharing my experience and steps now could possibly help folks in our situation months down the road. Like I wish I could reference now 😂
