I've had my car a couple months and its always had the 240 logo. It's gone now that I changed the dash with BimmerCode.

Only way to get it back is to do a restore prior to you changing it to the M dash.

The M dash screws with other stuff. If you didn’t notice your redline is gone with the M display and it also changes the maintenance intervals within idrive.

No worries - I know what the redline is and I'd only need to pay attention to it if shifting manually, and when shifting manually I seldom go that high. For the maintenance intervals I track that with a date and mileage in Google Calendar and do my own oil changes.

I was never a fan of the M240 OEM dash with all the shading going on in the background and the orange line outlining the length of the speedometer and tach. This M dash is much cleaner and easier for me to read at glance.

I have learned from the support the 11/2021 version includes some known bugs and I am struggling with one of those. Is there a proof OTA update even works? My dealer has appointed me to try updating in two weeks, I don't want to wait this long. The support sent me a page-long howto on OTA, saying it will only update (and display a misleading "no updates found" message if I fail to meet the requirements) after I: drive for 60 miles without stopping engine, leave the public road, go into parking mode, turn off the headlights (how??), close all the doors etc., do all this in temp >-10°C. Obviously, I'm not willing to meet such prohibitive requirements only to get an OTA. I am thinking of reporting this as a missing feature if it works the same way (doesn't work) for all of you.

You should be able to turn off headlights with engine running and car in park.

Has anyone yet to see an OTA update? I’ve had my car since beginning of may, don’t have the latest update, yet bmw app says I do.

I've got my upgrade installed by the dealer today (for free). It does indeed print the M240i logo, the font on the speedometer is new, it does some minor (can't remember) config options and Android Auto is now WAY MORE responsive, e.g. establishing the connection after I get into a car takes less time than starting the engine now. They promised me the next update will install automatically with OTA, we'll see.

Anyone in Europe who has version 2022/07 and who can say if the update fixes the fact that disabling LDW does not stay remembered?

As a side note, maybe those sticking in the x.2021 version may confirm, but at least on UK, Spain (and seems other countries in EU) have problems with the 03.2022 version that basically forces you to disable the steering intervention each f*** time you start the car.

See thread: https://g42.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1931903

As i mentioned in my latest answer ( https://g42.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...22&postcount=7 ) this may be a bug in 2022 that simply doesn't save that toggle OR that they have enabled it in many countries at the same time in 03.2022

Any info on this is welcomed.

If some USA owner is already in 03.2022 and when you set off the "steering intervention" you never have to set it off again in each ride, then it's NOT a bug.
Have you installed 2002/07 to see if that fixes this problem?
Or found a solution to keep it in memory?

Bimmercode for M240i

What car did you use when you coded this in BimmerCode as it doesn't currently include the newer M240i models? I wrote to BimmerCode and asked about it and they said they are working on it, but not currently available for our models.

I think they use G20 with bimmercode

Some say G42 is supported on android version but I haven't seen it :

You just choose g20. Everything works.

If you want m240 to show up on your dash you need to choose m performance. If you choose any other option and then go back to m performance the m240 won’t show.

In that case you need to restore a back, on the same page where you select the dash in BimmerCode, to the very first backup it has. After it’s restored then select m performance again and you will get m240 back.

I couldn't figure out why my alarm would activate (or at least start flashing the lights) when I left my BimmerLink gauges on my phone connected to the OBD port when I locked the car, or if I left the moonroof vented and locked the car.

Turns out the BimmerCode has options to deactivate the alarm if something is communicating with the OBD port, and can also deactivate the interior motion detector so wind or pressure differences do not set of the alarm.

I read on a G20 thread that the I4 (idrive 8 I guess) could not be coded (for the moment) due to new Secure Coded ECU's

Technically you can code it, e.g. change the value from not active to active, but unless "signed", ECU happily ignores the change (tried myself).
