Consensus seems to be 60K-64K for a base model before options.
What do you think the packages will be? I'm guessing it'll have the usual Premium Enhanced type of package plus a carbon pack? |

You really can't buy this car bare bones, unless you just desperately want to have an 'M2' emblem on the rear end.
I'm thinking base MSRP starts at $65k, once you add packages, and you have to get a CF roof if available, you will be close to $75k-$80k. Plus TTL, you're spending a lot of money, making the 240 a better option financially if this is your daily. I agree, having an M2 is cooler, but prices are out of control these days and spending an additional $20k out the door compared to the 240 is insane. |

i'd argue the depreciation difference would make up the 20k itself |

I'd get a stipper manual G87. Sometimes the best way to order a M-car.

23 m340i base = 54,850 23 m340i xdrive = 56,850 23 m3 base = 72,800 23 m3 comp = 76,700 23 m3 comp xdrive = 80,800 23 m440i base = 58,250 23 m440i xdrive = 60,250 23 m4 base = 74,700 23 m4 comp = 78,600 23 m4 comp xdrive = 82,700 On both: M Lite base to xdrive = +2k (both) M Lite base to M base = +17,950 (m3) +16,450 (m4) M base to M Comp = +3,900 (both) M base to M Comp xdrive = +8k (both) Mostly consistent. 23 m240i base = 47,900 23 m240i xdrive = 49,900 Also worth noting: m240i base to m340i base = +6,950 m240i base to m440i base = +10,350 Factoring all this data, my best guess is: 23 m2 base = 64,350+ 23 m2 comp = +3900 (if exists) Or 23 m2 comp xdrive = +8k (if exists) I know its not apples to apples. Outside of B58 to S58, maybe the m2 base won't receive all of the goodies the m3/4 get at base (i.e. seats)? I'd still be amazed (and thrilled) to see a start price closer to 60k. |

On G series M cars, the Competition model brings, an automatic transmission, software remap (+24hp +74 tq), and the option of AWD. Don't know how much it costs, don't care.

On F series cars, it's not a huge hardware difference, on G series I think it is, I mean a transmission and drive train make up a lot of it. I suppose if you really need AWD and an auto tranny and don't want an M5/X3/4/5/6, there's always the G80/82.

The xdrive, however, is worth it's weight imho and can be completely turned off. "Drivers can also switch off the DSC system altogether and engage 2WD mode, where drive power is relayed solely to the rear wheels. If the optional M Traction Control is fitted, traction can be finely adjusted through ten stages in this setting in the same way as on the rear-wheel-drive models. This form of power transmission without any intervention from the chassis control systems to stabilise the vehicle allows seasoned drivers to enjoy a driving experience of remarkable purity and hone their skills with the help of the optional M Drift Analyser." |

Plus if you go with individual paint it is somewhat foolish to get the carbon fiber roof when you are spending all that money for that amazing paint. Food for thought. |
