The designer Jose said he did that intentionally to give the car more of a muscular look

It's essentially an optical illusion and makes the car look wider than it actually is

The videos don't look like your image posted. Not from what I could tell anyway.

EDIT: watched a video of the red one. I think the line is there

Glad to see they finally don't charge for metallic paint!
In BG and BSM it doesn't look bad, unfortunately the choice of colors (both for exterior and interior) is very poor as usual
The interior with the ID8 is awful, and why the hell do they offer cognac leather (elegant and not sporty) in an M car, and not, for example, silverstone or orange like the M3/4?!

I agree.
But it is sad to choose a dark colour to hide the bad stylistic elements, instead of a light one to let the good ones shine (I had the 1M in VO and the M2C in HS for this reason).

Why can't they offer a "normal" blue tone for the M2? Imagine how good Marina Bay or even Portimao would look on the M2.

Will there finally be an Individual program for the M2?

Yea the sleek, classy bodylines is no longer a BMW thing, they are going for flair and boy racer now.. It's never going be some timeless classic you tuck away in your garage and wipe down with a diaper every now and then, like a pristine E46 or E92 M3 of 20+ years ago, this car will not age as well and is a car built for the moment.

However, unless you have some unlimited budget for your guilty pleasure automobile, where else you going to find a RWD + manual + 400hp + revised stability and e-diff (DSCi) for 62k. This is still a good package for what you are getting and I'm not swaying on the looks but I could look at it with a practical and objective lens.

Reading between the lines, there is no "Individual" program for the M2, they are reserving that option for the higher tier M3/M4 and their bread-and-butter SVUs.

This car is damn expensive for what it is
$10k more and you’re at base m3?
I would go with that 8 days a week and twice on Sunday.

I just cannot believe the car looks like this. The sketches are SO good too. I love the design sketches, but this is not even close.

This will def help the rs3, which I don’t think has a good front end, but it’s doable. This is like BMW Minecraft edition.

I thought for sure they’d do better.

Welp off the top of my head, there’s the Mustang, camaro, CT4 BW and Supra. And they all start at a cheaper price.

Configurator in Switzerland is online too…and funny that the manual base price is more expensive than the ZF almost 1k…

Price is steep…fully speced 115k here

Not the bargain M2 like the F87 was..
