That's half true. The Carbon 1 package pieces are all different and larger than the stock plastic pieces while the Carbon 2 is an appearance package. Front splitter and rear wing are much larger/longer in the carbon versions.

Additionally both seat options they offer aren't even remotely comparable to the carbon buckets.
I feel like you're downplaying the performance of the 4BW seats and the base M2 seats when you say not remotely comparable. Speaking strictly from their performance, I've done multiple track days in both of those seats and I had no issues. But I guess I'm not really sure on all the factors you're including in that. Maybe looks and exclusivity?

You're actually spending $16k when you add the upgraded seats which are on par with the Base M2 seat
But you wouldn't buy either carbon package on the BW in this comparison. You spec the carbon roof because you either want weight or you need the space for a helmet. On the 4/5BW the moonroof is an option so the weight savings difference is minimal and you don't have helmet issues. So that just leaves the seats because the M2 doesn't have an actual aero package like the 4BW does.

That's why I feel a comparison between the carbon options on these two vehicles is odd because they aren't the same at all. I will say that GM's carbon prices for both packages are completely overpriced and that they obviously chose a poor supplier because they can't keep up.

Can't get onboard with those M-colored patches of leather. Looks gaudy.

Prefer the blue deviated stitched seats with subtle M logo.

Thanks for asking and here is my thought process. I was set on ZB, but hated the thought of giving up my Portimao Blue G42 which I love for ZB. Brooklyn Grey was my second-choice backup on the G42. It came down to liking my second choice for the G87 over ZB. It seems my brain was condition not to like a sunroof when I got my 1993 Porsche RS America with no sunroof and followed that ever since. My days of tracking cars are over so I don’t need the extra helmet space.

Thus, I am finding I do like the functionality of the sun/moon roof on the G42. So, I am going to like the sun roof for the G87. I already have the blue contrasting stitching on my G42 and want some thing different; so went with with M color high light. My all-black wheels on the G42 don’t show the brake dust much. From my previous experience with bi-color wheels the dust will show up more on the lighter aluminum colored portion and it always looks dingier. I am torn on adding heated steering wheel, since I don’t use them on my other cars.

Sorry for the long answer, but yes, I am pretty much fixed on this build.

No worries. Unfortunately, I think we all have some time on our hands to reflect on our builds and possibly change our orders prior to our allocations arriving. With that said, some items will probably get removed/added to my build.

I wouldn't use the word much, but the functionality difference is there I can admit that. I can't say how much of a difference it provides aside from Googling and citing the downforce difference GM quotes.

I felt that I slid around in the upgraded 4BW seats just as much as I slide around in base M seats. The base 4BW seat has almost no bolstering whereas the carbon seat in the M3 I had no movement at all at COTA. I am a bigger guy though. The upgraded 4BW seat is definitely as good as, or likely better than, the base M2 seat but they should be for $5,500 vs "included".

Yes they definitely need to do something about the supplier issue. Hardly anyone is ever able to get Carbon cause it's consistently on constraint.

Same here. The bi-color looks great but that’s not the look I am going for.

Did a little digging, someone posted this back in July, I guess that's how the non Shadowline lights look like?
Personal preference, I do dig that golden stripe and go non Shadowline if that's is it.

I'm first on my list and super annoyed cause I don't want to wait. I assume any Dec production will be April to May delivery so if the car is built in March… I don't wanna wait till August or later.
Initial production with any model is usually the dealer HEA's regardless, which aren't always able to be modified to a certain spec. Even if you are customer order #1, it probably won't start production until the initial run is built for dealers.

That's fine. I told my dealer that if I can get the car by July latest with CF buckets then I'll do them. If I have to wait longer than I'll skip on them. I know the car is available around April to May

How on earth is a parallel parking assistant available with a MT? I can't even begin to comprehend how that will
Work.

I'm surprised at the MPG difference between the M2 and M240i. That S58 sure is a gas guzzler.

M2 24 MPG

M240i / M240i xDrive 32 MPG

I never expect to get the MPG that's rated by the EPA. That said, I'm looking at the delta between the two. The M2 overall gets 25% less MPG than the M240i. Doing some simple math with what you currently get in your M240i you'd be getting 17.3 MPG in an M2.

Yes, the inside of the non-Shadowline headlight will look like that. The exhaust tips will also be chrome versus gloss black.

It's 32 highway, 26 combined. So if that's your average, and considering you're an enthusiast on a forum and probably drive a bit harder than the EPA test, it makes sense.
