I had to change my vote to no, but not because of the economy. On 12/31 I got a deal on a new CT4 Blackwing (manual and loaded options) for $2k below sticker. Was too good of a deal to pass up (most dealers asking at least $5k over sticker still, car is rarer than hen’s teeth and they know it).
One of the main reasons was so I could dump my Taycan. If you’ve been following used EV prices since the government changed the tax credits you’ll know that high end EV’s are dropping fast. My local Porsche dealer offered me $95k 2 months ago, last week they offered me $86.5k after a lot of negotiations. I got a good bit more than that from Cadillac and lots of cash in my pocket + $7,500 tax credit next year still applies. No brainer right now. The car is phenomenal and a natural competitor to the M2. Prior to the Taycan I had a manual 991.2 and the Blackwing is very close to the precision and feel of the 911 with a more comfortable and usable ride (magnetorehelogical dampers). Still in break-in but car has been great so far and I don’t miss the Taycan. |

Questions for those who have paid (or tried to pay) more towards your monthly payment and used BMW’s in-house financing:
1. Were you able to do so successfully and without any penalty fees? 2. Were you able to apply the extra payment to the principal of the loan only, consequently reducing the total interest on the term of the loan? I don’t want to put up too much cash as I would rather invest it but I would be willing to pay more towards my monthly payment (if it were applied to the principal only) every other month or so. |
