Bumping this to say that I've arranged to have the "track pack" done to my car, plus ceramic, plus tint, and it will be picked up via truck at the dealer on delivery day, for about 4300 bucks.
Yeah it might seem sucky to not drive the car immediately on delivery day, but I can wait a week or so to ensure she's protected before I do go driving. ![]() Besides, it works great for my work schedule which won't have me really enjoying the car until May anyway. ETA: Here's what they describe as the track pack; XPEL Ultimate Plus 10 paint protection film *track package* *wrapped edges were applicable *full hood, fenders, bumper, headlights, lower rockers, rear impact area, door cups, mirrors, edge guards, door sills.

I got a huge rock hit on the bumper at 200 miles on my M2C right before PPF so you are right to get it done right off the bat.

For my M2C, I went on a road rally before ppf and ended up with road rash and also a gash. Not doing it with this car LOL

Daydreaming ahead to late May/early June, I got a quote for a frontal wrap and tint for my PCD.
Extreme Colors Auto Spa Extreme Cross Country PPF Package 1 XPEL ULTIMATE PLUSTM Paint Protection Film & Installation on Full Hood (wrapped), Full Fenders, Mirrors, Front Bumper, Door Edge Guards, & Headlights Extreme Premium PPF Installation) plus Ceramtic Tint ($399) = $2,428.20. That includes a 10% CCA discount. Will drop off in the afternoon of delivery day and the tint will be done that afternoon with the PPF the next day. |

I’m trying to talk myself out of a frozen PPF full wrap. Is this a decent price (full wrap for comparison) - I see they don’t list a ceramic finish?
*I have a CF roof, so it will probably come down a bit. |

I finally heard back from wolfe, which was the only autoflex installer in az, and they no longer install autoflex (or clarity coat as they are now the same thing). I am now between a full stealth ppf or just the front clear bra (mirrors and high impact areas included hopefully). If someone has a suggestion for somewhere in az that is top quality but practically priced I'd appreciate it.

What color are you planning for the car? I find stealth looks especially great with metallics on black, white, and gray cars. G87 doesn't come metallic options but if you're going with TR or ZB it may be better to stick with clear gloss PPF.

No but I just Googled it. Just from pics it doesn't seem metallic to me... BG doesn't look metallic to me in person either. Doesn't have that high reflection from metallic flake you get from colors like Portimao or Thunder Night or even the Black.

They should have given the car green and a richer, deeper blue as an option. I'm not a fan of purple but I admit Thundernight also looks great. Strange how that was offered on the M240i but not the M2 which is supposed to sit at the top of the range. |

However, on a car that costs ~ 70K, I am having a VERY difficult time justifying this cost (just personally speaking). PPF isn't something that has a very good return when it comes to resale either, so it's an inefficient way to spend $. (Not that buying a car is ever a good way to spend money...) Another way I looked at it is to factor in this cost on top of out-the-door price + interest (if you finance/lease) + tax + tag/registration + insurance + gas... and you'll quickly end up ~>$85,000 in cost. Add to that the consumables over the time of owning this car (tires, brakes, fluid changes) + depreciation and it may end up being a colossal loss of money. This new M2 is priced as a performance bargain if you can keep it under $70k, but if you start adding extras, it starts to lose its appeal as a bargain and instead, you wonder what else you can do with $85K+... food for thought. |

I agree it doesn’t make financial sense to PPF a $70K car. However, if you want to keep it pristine, it’s the best option. The other bonus is that it makes the car a breeze to wash.
I’ve only done full PPF on my current car (F87 CS) due to the low production numbers and potential resale way out in the future. I paid $5K for XPEL and ceramic coating to the entire car. The installer was fairly new, he was working on a 458 Ferrari when I took my car in. It’s not as extensive as some other applications I’ve seen, as he didn’t remove my door handles or taillights for flush application all around. It looks 98% perfect but that extra $2K will get you 100%. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again on any new standard M car. |

If I was worried about financial sense I wouldn't be buying a new M2. I can't, however, justify full PPF if we're going to talk about financial sense. For me, it's about avoiding this when I'm on rallies later this year (first picture shows a "touched up" gash and road rash, other pic is road rash.);
