Amen, it's all good down here son.
I had to spend some time up north in corn town. Hated it. I'd move to Chicago or NYC though, even if I do freeze my ass off.

Florida is just OK
Everything is sooo spread out, ridiculously hot in the summer, and humid. You have to drive MILES to get anywhere remotely interesting. There's also no real feeling of diversity or culture, at least in Orlando. But most of the year the weather is just right, a lot of new infrastructure, good shopping places, nice living areas, etc. |

Well it's no secret that the West Coast is the place to go (in the Corps specifically). As superficial and fucked up as California is, I would take it a thousand times over before considering Lejeune. But it has nothing to do with the state itself; just its proximity to civilization. When you get monstrous military bases home to so many grunt units (read: even more dudes) in the middle of f'n nowhere, you get all kinds of payday loan shacks, used car dealers offering 20% APR, and strip clubs where the average tooth count is below 20 per stripper. That's just what an isolated military town will be, only slightly affected by what state you're in. Pendleton would be the exact same thing, except for the weather, if it was somewhere as rural as Lejeune. In fact, I think I saw more people trying to be cowboys and trying to speak with a fake southern drawl in SoCal than I did in North Carolina. One of the most annoying things about SoCal to me was how so many people tried so hard to come off as hard core hicks. It was mostly a bit inland where this was so rampant, and I do understand there are plenty of ranches out there and whatnot, but wayyy wayyy too many people walking around with their dinner plate belt buckles and 10-gallon hats.
Back on topic, I'm not sure it's the state that you should hate; rather the location of that particular base, and the makeup of its inhabitants. |

I agree that majority of NC is God's cleveland steamer on the US's chest! I have family that live in Sanford aka "Scumford" NC cause they are stationed at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville aka "FayetteNam" NC. The only enjoyable area of NC is Raleigh, but just as a decent place to spend a day then GTFO of there. I personally enough the weather/seasons in the north so I prefer cities like Chicago, NYC, Cleveland, and Seattle. I will admit every time I've visited L.A. i had a blasty blast! Just seems like a nice place to get away to not live year round in.

As a North Carolinian, I don't feel like I'm around a bunch of bible thumpers, but GOD I HATE FUCKING REDNECKS.
They bug me SO much. They're stupid, ignorant, and think trucks are the shit. They think American-made products are the best and refuse to listen to anything. Also, that accent drives me nuts. Also, people in NC can't drive for shit. Go on I-40 when it rains; I dare you. Oh, and the Triangle region is boring. Raleigh is boring. There's nothing fun to do here. The only places that kick ass in NC are Boone, Asheville, Wake Forest, and the UNC-W area, where there aren't rednecks and people are chill. At least in Boone there is shit to do. Mountains rule. I can't wait to graduate and move the fuck out of here to Colorado. |

Has anyone ever been to Asheville? F'ing awesome town. WNC kicks ass, that's were I moved to two years ago and love it!
BTW 0311/0331 here did the Lejuene thing and the Pendleton thing, well Cali was so much cooler, but being from Atlanta I hated not being on the east coast. I personally would love ending up in Maryland or near DC. |

Just like any other state, it has it's pros and cons. Don't hate on NC just because of typical stereotypical BS.

The weather could be better on some days. Saying that, I can't believe I used to live in Utah. Thankfully I lived there only for a couple years in middle school. I'd probably hate it there now. I can't remember there being much to do except drive 30 minutes to Nevada. There was a cool shopping outlet in St. George too, but I was too young to appreciate it.

hahaha this remind me.. I was sitting in the stands before running at this po-dunk 1/4 mile track outside san antonio and this lady comes up to me.. "you see that there charger, my sons driving it and it's got a hemi." As if I'm supposed to be impressed or something. I think red necks just love to say the word hemi. Needless to say, he ran a 14.4
