As a bonus I'm hoping they add Skyscraper Grey Metallic.

I would gladly take any if the following:

Signal Green
Speed Yellow
Daytona Violet Metallic
Chalk
Ruby Black Metallic

I wish we could get the colors you suggest but that's not going to happen. I should have provided some guidance on what colors to pick. The BMW M spokesman was pretty explicit in that we won't see any individual colors. He also said they will draw on M colors from existing M cars which seemed to indicate colors used on the M3/4. I wouldn't be surprised if they also add colors that are on the 2 Series like Thundernight Metallic.

I know, was just being hopeful.

I would even go for Sao Paulo. Most of the basic M colors are nothing special that would truly make the choices better (I am not a fan of all the darker blues...I have had a Navarra Blue Metallic on my '18 S5 for the last 5 years and time to move on).

T.U.D. .... this statement is not accurate.

The Munich factory tour takes you right along the paint line. You watch the robots paint as the cars move through. All behind glass windows, of course. Pretty amazing to see, actually.

I've done it twice, during my European Deliveries.

It is fully accurate as I was stating that the general public is not taken physically into the paint shop.

What I initially stated, BMW prohibits the general public from touring their paint shops. It is a highly controlled environment to reduce airborne pollutants.

I have been to the Munich factory several times, but it has been 20+ years and automotive factories are retooled rather frequently.

I will reiterate that Plant Spartanburg, which I visit quite frequently, is currently the largest BMW factory amongst BMW’s manufacturing facilities. The general public is not permitted within the paint shop at that location. You will briefly walk past it during a tour at Spartanburg and see a very small portion of it from behind glass. I grant you that you are visually seeing a quarter of it. The same would apply to Munich, Regensburg, and Dingolfing. You are not physically entering the paint shop to tour it. Again, no one from the general public is permitted within the paint shop(s) as it is a highly controlled environment to reduce/eliminate air pollutants/contamination. Example, Dust/lint from clothing, dead skin, human hairs and so forth.

Many of us are very sick of the white/grey/black boredom of colors dominating the roads at the moment. BMW has always had great blue colors, but ZB has left something to be desired for most. So, we want that medium to dark blue that really pops. Well, at least I do. Also a darker red or green would be nice as well.

First, I want to say that I appreciate your knowledge and what you do contribute. I do often wonder why you’re so defensive. Have you ever just tried to hear someone?

Lol... thank you T.U.D.

No one was saying anyone actually went INTO the booth itself. That would be bad for our health. Might cause cancer, or leprosy or advanced stage 9 COVID or something.

But they DO allow window viewing.

I can't say that I've been to Spartanburg.

But here's the German factory viewing window.

It's pretty cool.

A dark blue could look sweet, but if they offered this in Mineral Grey... I fear I would need a new pair of pants!! or at least a throw pillow for modesty's sake.

I second or third that emotion. I have the regular Port Blue on my i4 and love it everytime I see it. I’m not sure how the Frozen will hold up or look down the road, both in style and physical appearance. Glad it’s got some folks excited though.

I recall when Renault Sport first released the RS200 Clio in frozen (matte) paints back in 2011 & i thought it was a fad that would be over in no time, however there is obviously still a demand for it more than a decade later.
I think anyone purchasing a frozen (matte) color is more than likely aware of the upkeep, i do wonder about long term resale though.
I would have thought it made more sense to just wrap a car in matte PPF if you want a “frozen” finish, then you get the benefits without the drawbacks.

An E92 6mt Frozen Blue sold last week and it was listed for over 90k. I think it is the perfect color, but is the upkeep worth it? Hopefully, I passed on my allocation yesterday for the chance it is offered in 24.
