Connors5453 Congratulations. The G87 M2 in Brooklyn Gray looks great. And the fact that East Bay BMW provided this car at MSRP is outstanding. Steven Creek here wants a $20k markup. Every time I see this sticker on the front windshield I make sure to laugh & tilt my head back in front of all their salesman & cameras out in front of the main lobby doors, where it's parked.
When I get some extra time I'll make sure to try to capture a few of my beast at that San Ramon location. In the near future I would like to get an iteration of the G87 M2 as well. Maybe an LCI X2 M Competition down the line. And the 2018 OG M2 was the best of that era. The S55 will never sound as nice as the N55 & the DCT was an absolute gem.

Right- but also look to the Porsche 996 Gen debacle in 1998. To this day- the 993 sells 5 times the price of 996. For all intent and purpose- the 996 gen was BETTER. But the ugly headlights and cheap interior killed it. It wasn’t until 997 where they seriously reclaimed their customers. Imagine the 993 guys who just sold their cars and got into 996 cars with exploding IMS bearings? Disaster. 997 cars were MUCH healthier and in 2006 they introduced a beefier IMS that basically fixed the issue completely. But then by 997.2- we thought it was sorted with the elimination. Turns out that the 997.2 cars suffer from oil burn and bore scoring (I had a 2009 997.2 that Porsche bought back from me for that reason). Whole reason I talk about Porsche is the lesson people have to learn in all this. Enjoy both camps. Let the two cars exist. In 20 years time there will be a true favorite here. I happen to think the F series had a more timeless look (like a Porsche 997 had regained its iconic headlights it lost in 996 gen). I think in future years we will talk about the CS F series M2 as the ultimate while we all are charging our new BMW M’s I really hope that’s not our future. Band together folks- if we unify now- they can’t take this away.. And as to my story about Porsche… I went back to the 997.1 mark and found a low mileage one owner car a few years after my lemon. That car has been flawless and I still own it. The “ less” desirable 997 ended up being more reliable and as time marches on... people are now looking at the higher rev’ing 997 cars and realizing it’s all sorted out and actually the better car/design/value. Just food for thought. Don’t turn in the keys on the OG M2 just yet. But please guys- understand the success of this new model is what we all want no matter what. |

Thank you for the post and pictures!
I had a look at one that just arrived at my BMW garage. I agree that the interior is so much improved compared to the F87. I also like that the M2 finally has adaptative dampings. This thing must be a blast to drive I would not buy one as this kind of aesthetic is not for me (I'm getting old probably), but it's cool that BMW is still proposing a "small" ICE-motored M-car in 2023! But I can't understand why they go on NOT proposing invididual colors on such an expensive car while you can have one on a 116d??? |

Congrats on the new car! I appreciate your review and look forward to continued impressions.
I pick mine up today and have a nice 3-hour interstate drive home so I look forward to spending time in it soon...

They’re F87 and G87 are way closer in size than I expected! That’s enlightening. Congrats on the new ride, happy to hear that you’re liking it!

350 miles or so in, the car feels super planted and sturdy, hard to describe but it feels incredibly well built and handles the road nicely, it doesn’t feel like your ever losing grip. Compared to f87, it feels twice as stable but loses a little steering feel. Throttle and transmission is much more responsive and is a massive improvement. And yes, it’s MUCH faster than even the m2c. The suspension is also a massive improvement, being able to adjust for highway and back roads is really nice.

Just like I owned both 458 speciale and 296 GTB, new design not necessary always mean better design. One more thing, next time when u using F word please keep that to yourself instead of using in public |
