Just to update my post of June 4 2024 above.

We had a new battery fitted by our BMW dealer at no cost to us and the fault warning was coded out. They didn't comment on the old battery and to be honest we were happy with the outcome and didn't really ask any questions.

j'ai effectué un PPF sur ma voiture et résultat j'ai eu le message d'erreur sur mon véhicule.
Après un diagnostic chez BMW et contrôle de batterie, ils ont effacé le défaut et j'ai pu repartir.

je viens de laisser le véhicule à l'arrêt depuis 30 jours et ma batterie s'est complètement déchargée. J'ai ouvert le véhicule avec l'insert en métal caché dans la clé, ouvert le capot pour mettre les câbles et la l'alarme s'est mise en route.

je trouve cela etrange que la batterie soit HS en seulement 30 jours .

j'attend un retour de mon concessionnaire

I performed a PPF on my car and as a result I got the error message on my vehicle.

After a diagnosis at BMW and a battery check, they erased the fault and I was able to start again.

I have just left the vehicle stationary for 30 days and my battery has completely discharged

I opened the vehicle with the metal insert hidden in the key, opened the hood to put the cables and the alarm went off.

I find it strange that the battery is out of order in only 30 days.

I am waiting for a response from my dealer


The car's battery could have been run down some during the PPF as the interior lights could have been on or even from the fact the car might not have been completely shut down, which involves locking the car.

Locking the car signals the electronics subsequent immediate use is not expected so the electronics will switch to low power more sooner rather than later.

If the car is not locked the car's electronics can stay on and consuming battery power. Worse is if a key is within range of the car.

Then rather than driving the car long enough to top up the battery -- which granted is not something that first comes to mind to a car owner after getting the car back from a PPF -- and then parking the car 30 days and even assuming the car was locked and the key far enough away from the car so the car's electronics went into full low power mode that the battery is dead is not that odd.

Unfortunate though to be sure.

I note the dealer checked the battery so that (almost certainly) rules out a bad battery.

Not sure about the discharged battery being completely unaffected by being discharged. Lead/acid batteries do not like being fully discharged.

I'll defer to your dealer on what it recommends. Maybe a new battery. Or maybe the battery will be ok following a proper recharge of the battery.

I’m going to bring my battery tender to the PPF place. They said they’ll need it 5 days if I do the whole car+tint.
