I never said static weight distribution makes no difference. I said changing it by 1% or so makes little difference. I, as a driver, can balance a car dynamically with throttle and brake application as needed. And dynamic weight distribution is what the tires feel.

Lowering weight pays dividend everywhere. And I, as a driver, can do nothing about extra weight.

I have no idea why you are being so derisive and argumentative. We are just sharing ideas about how to improve our cars. You don’t need to use any of the ideas.

Cheers.

You bring up a good point. At this time Bimmercode only supports up to F87, which is fine for battery coding on G87. When you get to the Battery Registration part on Bimmerlink, you can see the value is successfully read at 60Ah (instead of 90Ah), which is what we previously coded the new battery at using Bimmercode.

If sitting for long periods of time, you can opt for the Antigravity Battery Tracker to monitor voltage as needed from your iPhone/Android, otherwise you will need a LiFePO4-specific charger as not to damage the battery.

Absolutely. I've been running a AG battery in our Tesla Model Y Performance successfully for the past 2 years, as 20-22 models come with a really cheap lead acid battery that typically craps out in a couple of years for the 12V system.
I was wondering what happened, I received a notification that you replied but I couldn’t find it.
Any insight as to why the G80/G82 is more complicated to swap the battery? Doesn’t the M3/M4 already come equipped with a Li-Po battery?

Reading this thread thinking about all the stupid shit lotus owners do to shave 16 grams.

I’d spend $1k to drop 40 lbs.

Will this work on a 2019 M2c?

To my understanding there is no Lithium setting on the M2c? But I have read people install these on their cars.

Anyone have issues with cold charging of the lithium batteries? I build custom lithium battery packs (12v 100ah-200ah) for vehicle surveillance packages. In my experience the lithium batteries don't like charging below freezing. I get around that by installing automatic battery heaters along with the BMS. Different use case than a vehicle starter and accessory battery but I am curious about others experience.

There is a Lithium setting in Bimmercode for your F87.

Driving my F82 below freezing there was never an issue with charging, even though the trunk mounted battery was subject to those temps. With a battery in the engine compartment it is naturally heated when driving. Now static charging I do not know.

I was thinking about static battery tender charging. Then I realized I never even said that. I'll catch up one of these days

BMW are legendary with car balance.
Small or Large they are all near perfect 50:50
Could this not be in their equation to have extra weight in this spot. To change could effect? the handling of the car I wonder 🤔

I was also wondering what's more complicated. I tried it on my g15 and the battery kept having over and under voltage causing drivetrain error codes. Unfortunately they didn't test the battery when it was returned as they said they would to determine if it was a faulty unit.
