That will only work for so long. Eventually the likes of Tesla, BYD, Nio, Polestar will start pumping up huge volumes of vehicles and they will resort to discounts again.

I can't wait for the Chinese cars (and I am including those with Western brands like Volvo, Polestar, MG, etc) to start imposing sensible pricing on the market.

It's sickening that my M2 will be over $80K out the door (with taxes and a couple of port installed options). Still a bargain vs a $100K M4

A mild recession, if it occurs, will (we hope) bring equilibrium on demand vs supply as companies will be trying to keep financial scorecard positive - let’s hope for consumer benefit.

Just the other day, I went to pickup a dishwasher booster that had gone 40% price up everywhere online and b&m - in 9 months or so, crazy times.

There are lots of viable options either out now or will be coming out soon. The difference is that BMW will remain a luxury/performance brand vs some of those others will be computers surrounded by basic transportation with bland styling. That must be a rocking nice M2. Enjoy!

While I agree with you about the design, some people need or want a BEV. Maybe it draws them to the brand. But more than likely it’s a conversion from X5 repeat buyers… hard to prove my theory

I would say you’re right, but I would never own a ev . Glad to see it’s not gonna be a long lived design. I think it’s discontinuing 2026.

Don't blame you for not changing but not big enough refresh?

New grill
New front end
New bonnet profile.
New engine M engine
New gearbox with Mild hybrid.
New dash
New seats
New I-Drive
New sprint launch mode
New smart headlights
New smart tail lights

What more did you want?

Yeah the XM is a real head scratcher. No sunroof is weird and the interior is like the X5 mostly...

They really missed the chance to make the quickest M SUV that deserves the M badge only
The XM label red is not BMW's competitor against the Urus and Cayene, the X6 Competition is. Of course not price wise, but the hybrid drive train of the XM doesn't seem to me to be in the same class as the Urus and Cayene IMO.

It's all subjective, right?

New front end is terrible. New I-Drive with no actual buttons for AC, terrible. New dash with IPad like screen, distasteful. No air suspension. No acoustic glass...and more.

Not crazy about the new layout of the screens and how everything is integrated no buttons don’t like that Secondly, I cannot stand the front bumper all that black trimming under the grill. Yes, I could buy the car in black not worry about that. My biggest complaint is probably the seat design and the The screen to retro for an older design they just don’t blend well . And mine is a mild hybrid already And the loss of laser lights seems to me it’s just more watered down cheaper version more expensive. and I can see what you’re saying they’ve updated this and that, but not enough to make me run out and buy a new one.

I agree.
They could’ve simply added the new headliner detail, some of the other fancy finishing bits, & a full hybrid M variant/option to the LCI X5M and then have be done with it. Would’ve saved so much money-time-effort on the production of the XM…

Why is the LCI a big reason? The new X5 looks fine and the interior is impeccably well built. Is it my favorite exterior, no...but it's pretty good.

Agree, looks like absolute shit. Interior is a bit odd but well built, gotta hand it to BMW on the quality front though.

Sadly, the vast majority of the population wants a moving computer vs an engaging driver's car.

My M2 has the basics (i.e. no Carbon package or seats, no M Driver's Pacakge). The M HAS, M spoiler and the very, very high taxes in my state put me over $80K.

Definately correct 👌
Q.New I-Drive with no actual buttons for AC, terrible.
A.8.5 is fine after a week, I now do not mind it, the only button I miss is the recirculation button when you see a smoky car. Annoying as there is three unused buttons on my dash that should be assignable.
Q.No air suspension.
A.M60i both options available bin Australia
M Competition no air.
All depends on our wants comfort or performance. Air shouldn't be available on the track version.
Q.No acoustic glass
Market dependent

Standard seats are good.
Comfort too flat if driven with spirit.
Sport Seats not available in AUS

Yeah I have always wanted laser, been told they are the same now, I don't believe it, will try and do a highway test one day work m50i laser m60i led.
Similar price as the pre-lci
not enough to make me run out and buy a new one.
Definately not, but it is the next step. Just like mobile phones can skip one or two generations between phones without missing out.
If I had a X5 M50i I would NOT sell for the X5m60i was just that the Lci was about to be released was a better decision for tech and resale that's all.

Like actually laughed and pointed and it wasnt nice at all, it was mocking the car or the driver or both. Unreal, never seen random strangers just react like that to a car with such contempt and ridicule. Not representative example but this is my thoughts when I saw it, i just wouldnt point and laugh.

So it makes sense this car sits on the lots. Ugly and expensive, the worst kind of combo. IX looks way nicer in comparison. BUT BMW is doing ok, growing in a poor year with high rates. Good on them, enjoy the US and EUrope market while it lasts.
