I talked to my insurance broker today. Staying with AutoOwners insurance which all our house and auto stuff is bundled the quote was $2060 annually for the M2. I think I could find something 300 to 400 bucks a year cheaper but AutoOwners is fantastic to work with. I think my previous car (19' M240i) I paid about $1400 per year.
I'm 42, clean driving record, great credit, and the M2 would be indicated as casual/low mileage driving.

Update of sorts. For 6 months my M2 premium is now $774. I'm retired. No tickets. No claims. My 2024 BMW 230i xDrive is my daily driver. The M2 is my pleasure car but State Farm doesn't have such a classification. Has the M2 listed for school/work/pleasure with a 12K miles per year. (The lowest amount.) I have put just over 6K miles on the car which I bought on April 14 of 2023.

Never again. As for my insurance. I have been with progressive since then. The M2 with a teen driver on my policy is 850 every 6 months with a 500 dollar deductible. My policy with 4 cars on it (3 full coverage) is what some of you are paying for just your M2 and that's nuts. |

How do a lot of you people not have any tickets? I've upped my countermeasures game recently but still have 6 or 7 speeding tickets from the past. (I'm early 30s)
Hopefully you M2 owners don't drive 'em like grandpas 'cause what's the point of having an M2 then? One of my biggest pet peeves is seeing a really nice car being driven like it's some 15 yr old in driver's ed behind the wheel, just give me your nice car and I'll drive her properly. And I personally can have fun at quite modest speeds, banging through apexes, taking advantage of empty onramps and offramps. No need to be in triple digits to have fun. |

Also running into similar issue with insurance for my incoming m2. “Cheapest” I have found is 1700 a year from progressive. Suprised someone here said they wouldn’t cover m2 through progressive but they had no issue quoting me. Cincinnati was next cheapest at 2400/yr

I currently have ~1,700 hp among 3 vehicles in my garage. There's a time and place, and it isn't public roadways occupied by other motorists.

On the way back to home in the SF Bay Area I was on west bound I40 about halfway between Needles and Barstow and spotted a small plane flying very low and off to the side of the freeway and it looked like it was pacing my car (996 Turbo). I was running probably 10mph over -- the V1 had been silent -- but it struck me odd. My experience/observation is while small private aircraft fly along the I40 route they fly above the freeway and by some several thousands of feet. I slowed down just to be safe. Just a few moments later the V1 chirped. I drove on. In less than 2 miles as the east and west lanes of the freeway came back together I spotted 2 CHP cars parked on the side of the east bound lanes. Both had their radar guns on which is what my V1 picked up. They were there to support the "bear in the air". Drove past with my halo glowing and that was that... (Gave the V1 a nice pat for a job well done!) But far and away it is the bear on the ground one encounters most often. On the way east on that same stretch of road -- in my Turbo -- and at night some guy in a late model Lexus was in a hurry. He had come up behind my car as I was dealing with a bit of congestion arising from big rigs. As is always the case they eventually sorted themselves out and the left lane was clear and I passed the big rigs. The Lexus driver was hot on my tail. I pulled over to make way and about that same time the V1 chirped. So after I made way for the Lexus I made sure my speed was 70mph. With me and my car out of the way the Lexus driver was presented with what he believed would be a wide open stretch of freeway. We crested a bit of a rise the lack of headlights and taillights ahead gave the Lexus driver confidence he had the road to himself. He put the hammer down in earnest. Just moments later the V1 went crazy. I slowed down to 65mph. By this time the Lexus was a good distance ahead of my car. A CHP car on the shoulder lit up like a Christmas tree and about the same time I'm sure the Lexus driver spotted the dark shape of the car on the shoulder. Too late. I drove on and passed the Lexus pulled over. The above were both in I40 but I have stories of a similar nature from any number of areas. Up on I70 going across Nevada. While that looks like an empty stretch of wide open road it ain't... And oh the bears "hiding" in the heat shimmer on that pretty flat section and as an empty stretch of road one might find of I70 between NV and Salt Lake City. Except it is not empty... Further east...Running kind of hot on I44 this after leaving OKC heading east towards Joplin MO. Had a young woman driving a Chrysler Crossfire keeping up with me. (I was in my 2002 Boxster.) Had the V1 volume cranked up to 11. Things were pretty cool but not too many miles inside MO the V1 went crazy. I pumped the brakes a few times to give the woman a signal then slowed down to the limit. We drove on. I caught the faint silhouette of a patrol car on an overpass ahead with an officer standing behind it. V1 was going crazy. Passed under the overpass. Based on experience I took a look to the right and there was a line of MO state trooper cars parked on the side of the on-ramp ready to take off after a "customer" the instant the trooper on the overpass gave the signal. At night going southwest on 54 highway crossing the TX panhandle on my way to Tucumcari NM. In my Boxster. Road ahead pretty empty. Drove for miles. Making good time. Then spotted a big rig approaching. V1 went crazy just as I got real close to passing the big rig. Instant on radar I guess because as I passed the big rig spotted what proved to be a Sheriff's car -- it was in fact the Sheriff -- tucked in behind the big rig. The car slowed whipped a u-turn and pulled me over. Ticket. Thankfully TX has probation before adjudication and I opted for this and after 6 months with no more citations paid something like $75 court fee and that was that. God I love Texas! I have a million stories. The AZ state troopers who like to hide in the middle between where 93 branches south from I40 all the way to Flagstaff. But 50 miles east of Flagstaff got pulled over so they are not all confined to the west of Flagstaff. On I20 west of DFW the local police of almost every town along that stretch of I20 who like to hang out at night in the middle of I20 west waiting in the dark for some driver who thinks the road is empty. The late night blast from eastern CO through KS -- this on 50 highway -- and dodging (but not always successfully) tumbleweeds when the V1 out in the middle of no where chirped. Slowed down. Dead silence from the V1. Picked up the pace. Short time later the V1 issued another alarm then silence. Not wanting to risk it stayed at the limit. Then in a moment or two spotted headlights in the distance. A bit of hilly terrain so the head lights would appear then disappear. But they were closing. Finally could see an approaching car. And you guessed it. A bear. Sheriff's car. After it passed the V1 was silent and it was just me and the Boxster in the blackness of KS... |

I completely dropped USAA, they have their own financial troubles and it seems like they’re trying to recuperate on the back of insurance. They quoted me 2700 for the 23 BMW XM. After insuring it at 1250.00 when I got it last year April.

GEICO has never been close to competitive for me. I am in the metro Atlanta area and there are a lot of uninsured/unlicensed drivers. I would be close to 1300 every 6 months for all my vehicles if my daughter came off my policy. |

Insurance companies in Colorado are fucking everyone over in this new year. Our renewal skyrocketed overall, and the M2 went up from 198 to 230 a month with USAA.
