Bought my car off the lot April 14, 2023. Was a launch car. Before finding this car I contacted some dealers about ordering a car built to my spec and the dealers were discouraging. No allocation and not much hope for one is what I recall.

The car I bought was close to my spec, though.

Vehicle Summary
Base MSRP $62,200
Zandvoort Blue (POC6E)
Black Vernasca Leather with Blue contrast stitching (FMANL)
Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite (SO4LN) $150
19"/20" M Light Alloy Jet Black Double-spoke Wheels, Style 930M with Mixed Tires (S01E6)
Lighting Package (SOZLP) $650
Automatic High Beams (S05AC)
Full LED Lights (S0552)
Shadowline Package (SOZHO) $300
Extended Shadowline Trim (SO7M9)
M Shadowline Lights (S03MF)
BMW M 50 Years Emblems (S03MQ) $200
Live Cockpit Pro (incl. Navi) (SO6U3) $1,100
M Carbon Roof (S040C) $2,600
Destination Charge $995
Total MSRP as Built $68,195

Oh, not listed above is the car came with the 6-speed manual transmission.

Were I able to build a car to my exact wants/wishes I'd have opted for heated steering wheel (to go with the heated seats) and whatever option provides me with a 360 degree camera.

My 2024 230xi has the heated wheel (along with heated seats) and the 360 degree camera and the ability to bring up a camera view of the front of the car so I can ensure the car is positioned properly when parked nose in to a parking space.

I miss that feature in my M2.

Our 2023 Canadian M2 with CF roof, TR and a few other minor things was USD$59,200 / CAD$81,505 including various fees and delivery charges, but not sales tax (USD$62,140 / CAD$85,580 on the road cost including 5% sales tax).

I'm tempted by the aluminum trim. Reminds of the silver cube in the ZHP.

My order is the same exact one, plus the heated steering wheel. Would love to see pics of your interior -- especially the alu trim. Thx!

My question is-- for those in the car for a while, and knowing what you know now-- what would you have done differently with respect to speccing out the car?

Options you regret not getting? Options that were a waste?

Color choice remorse?

Appreciate the feedback and all of the posts and contributions that got me to this point.

Current build: 6MT, ZB, M-Color highlight, CF trim, JB wheels, Shadowline/lighting pkg, CF roof, HUD, wireless charging, heated wheel (I'm getting soft in my old age)
I've owned my M2 for just over 1 year now. It's a TR, manual with everything but the carbon seats. Here's what I would change:

A) Not order the wireless charging. I don't really use it much as it just heats up the phone and charges slowly. I also look at my phone at red lights a lot so it's a hassle to grab out of the armrest storage area. I just have a USB-C cable plugged in always now and its fine.

B) I think in Canada the HUD is part of the premium package, but if it's separate in any other part of the world, I would definitely skip on optioning it. It's a cool gimmick for the first month but I haven't looked at it once in the last 6 months. Even on track, it's just a complete non-factor for me.

C) Probably would have made sense to put some PPF on the front end as mine is completely beat up. Multiple small paint chips and scratches from tracking the car and drift shenanigans. Doesn't bother me much but for someone who is keeping the car for multiple years, probably worth doing.

Other than that, I wish I would have modded my car more in the first year! LOL

That’s my car exactly.

ZB

CF Roof
HUD
Carbon Trim
Shadow Line
Wireless charging
M highlight seatbelts
Garage door opener (must have)

Wish it had come with Black Exhaust tips but that was solved with the Akrapovic Exhaust.

I'll just chime in and say I have the wireless charging and I would not spec that.

I just forgot to delete it after ordering, even though I saw the information on these forums. I tried using it several times in the first couple of weeks of ownership, and now I never use it.

Only been a month and a half of ownership, but still.

Anyone have adaptive cruise and wish they didn’t order due to not using it much?

I don’t use it much but very nice on the highway.

My only beef with the option is it must be disabled with each cruise control activation if you choose not to use it.

In the context of total price and perhaps resale value, why not? I’d order it again.

YMMV

What a smart question OP. Spec sounds great. You'll be happy.

I haven't hit a month of ownership... and while there are things I wish the car had (auto hold, intelligent cruise, vented seats, etc) there isn't anything I'd do differently if I had to reorder.

I love the wireless charger -- I understand my usecase is unique but I'm really glad I have it.

I added it to my ‘22 X3 and haven’t used it since the first month of ownership. It’s pretty cool but it also nearly rear ended a van. And I don’t mind stop and go driving.

I opted not to get it for the M2, and happy with that choice.

For sure. I appreciate the feedback, and I'm sure OP does as well, especially with the different use cases.

No telling what's helpful, but the more info out there, the better they can make the decision for themselves.

It's what helped me with my build as well.

I do a 500 mi (250 one way) trip every weekend. It works pretty well. I do think it leaves too much space between you & the vehicle in front of you even on the closest setting. This allows other vehicles to cut in which then causes the car to abruptly slow even more. It also is slow to re-accelerate when the lane opens up in front of you.

One last issue that I experienced this weekend is that a semi came half into my lane and my car was still accelerating toward it until I applied the brakes. I use it when there isn't much traffic on the highway but as soon as traffic starts increasing, I turn it off.

My wife's X3MC and my previous 330e have/had standard cruise. I prefer it over automatic cruise. I could do the same drive, set the cruise, then use the cancel & resume buttons to basically have my own auto cruise.

I would get the mobile Hotspot option if I were to build mine again its the only option I left out other then carbon buckets. If I was 190 pounds I woulda got the carbon buckets too.

I think you should & will have no regrets with that build. It's damned nice! Sometimes I think I am over rowing through gears, but then I get in an automatic & for me, it's just not as engaging an experience as a manual.

I ordered mine mid-March, went into production queue 4/6 & still at that step so I don't have the car.

6MT, BSM, M-Color highlight, CF trim, bi-color wheels, Shadowline/lighting pkg, sunroof, HUD, wireless charging, parking assistant, heated wheel (once I experienced that in my 2012 Evoque, it became a must have. LOL)

I first opted the red calipers but then switched back to blue. I love the frozen pure grey paint, but I didn't want to deal with what appears to be frozen paint maintenance/worry. Plus, I really like a highly reflective glossy paint.

I do wish BMW would have offered more color choices - a metallic gloss orange, metallic gloss blue, even a green. I definitely would have chosen one of those. So black won for me this time. Haven't had a black car in 30 years & no denying they are beautiful.

I think my regret is gonna be not waiting for a 2025, since I'm so close to that MY anyway. I hear there are gonna be some nice colors coming.

Other then that I didn’t get the HUD as it annoys me. I did get the carbon pack and I think the seats add something to the G87.

I’m 230lbs and 6” and I fit perfectly. iND bolster protectors are a must.

Consider a frozen color they’re worth it, ZB while nice might get old quickly.
Did you PPF wrap your car, or leave as-is?
