Wish it was me. The G32 640 Gran Turismo was a great proposition while it lasted. Rear legroom of a 7-Series with the convenience of a hatch. If BMW offered a V8 version I would’ve owned one.

That’s what I also believe will occur. X5 for longer trips. i4 for in-town errands. The sales numbers provide anecdotal evidence evidence.

Lol... I know BMW should have oops runs... when they randomly drop v8s or make one offs. Hey accidently put the last gen M5 CS V8 into a M3 awd... oops. Left over m5 v10 into the m2 with a 6 speed...Oops

Here is the i8 with an S65B44, 6 speed or 8 speed dct....

How are you even mentioning a company on deaths door in comparison to BMW. Also Isn’t BMW releasing a whole episode series out right now marketing BEV M division vehicles?

What on earth has convinced you to only buy BEVs forever?

Eh… you got that right… you’d probably anticpiated my squawking-in on this!
It makes a gigantic difference in EU.

Example: In my market you need to pay a tax to drive a car on the public road. It’s imaginatively named, ‘Road Tax’.

So, F90 drivers here have to stump-up €2400 every year to drive their cars. That’s your US Gas Guzzler tax… only every single year!!!

G90… €170 /yr!!! Amen to PHEV baby! 🙏

In some states here there is annual property tax , on top of registration tax, and some states have hybrid add on tax since your not buying as much fuel.

Moral of the story is the government gets a cut no matter how you slice the cake.

Where did you get that?
BMW’s EU sales are 2.5x larger than America’s.

100%.
We get flamed on taxes here but there’re some benefits …notably healthcare which is either free or, certainly by US standards, almost free.
That aside, no matter where you live, the old addage holds true… ‘Death & Taxes’!

at a total level yes ur correct...

however, there a couple things to keep in mind... we have 0 diesels, none of the 3 cylinder engines, no touring models and none of the smaller ix models and we are the focus M car market... also, our fleet sales and police / emergency sales are never bmw either as we have our own vehicles... i'd be curious if i removed diesels alone how much this changes

Curious to see how the X3 plays out. The people in my network are reacting to pictures of it (the new X3) in the same way they did the red lipstick XM — which is to say “not well”.

The old one sold great, so they’re setup for a tough compare.

i4 is half of all 4 series sales; i5 and i7 are a third of all 5 and 7 sales...

That's a pretty good outcome for BMW...

Unfortunately American market shifted to SUVs/crossovers and people no longer buy sedans. Numbers don’t lie. Other manufacturers have shifted away from making sedans namely Ford and GM. This is a dying segment. Times have changed Sedans are not coming back. Tesla Model 3 is the only outlier but its an Electric vehicle. Traditional ICE sport sedans from Lexus, Kia, Infiniti, Mercedes, Audi and others are all doing badly so its not just a BMW problem.

BMW decided to do “reverse cannibalization” by making the X3 so ugly and cheap that people must go for the X5. Pretty smart, actually

All German auto makers are in serious trouble specially in China where companies like BYD are selling in a much lower cost with their EV‘s having a higher range and I would imagine BMW sales volume is over 50% in that country while Porsche is closing 30 dealerships in ChinaGerman car industry is in trouble not competitive overpriced

the OP who you responded to has nary a clue as to why Rivian is still alive and will continue to do well. Traditional automakers are way behind on technology/infotainment so VW is capitalizing on Rivian to shore that up for them.

meanwhile tesla who got loans under both admins (trumponomics?) continues to flounder with the cybertruck and only recently refreshed their vehicles at a time when competitors have not only caught up but exceeded tesla.

Yea I bet those competitors have a robust and smooth experience on their charging networks. Oh wait.

You have to take into account also the fuel prices, the engine capacity taxes and also the overall vehicle prices.. an X5 30d in EU is more expensive than an X5 M60i sold in US

In the UK out of the 22 models only 5 are offered with a diesel engine the X3/X4/X5/X6/X7, everything else is petrol/hybrid or BEV, I think a few more are available in mainland Europe but UK new diesels are limited.

Also in the UK we can no longer afford BMW police cars they are all driving Peugeots these day.

It’s crazy to me the differences between the new X3 and the current X5. I can’t get over how awful the interior quality is in the new X3 (The old X3 was much nicer inside from a dash/controls perspective)

Maybe with the new design team they’ll do a quick LCI. (I hope they do, especially on the inside)

That plastic, poorly fastened HVAC setup on the door should never have made it through the prototyping phase.
