I would love to have a face to face chat with these designers.
It would be interesting to try and understand where they are coming from ( and point to errors in their ways?!)

It’s a first time since my teenage days that’s I’m not looking forward to seeing any new future BMW. That’s a weird feeling.

I'm trying to keep an open mind. The front end is not terrible.

many of us could never have dreamt that one day we would miss Chris Bangle….

anyway, now glad i decided from the start to ignore BMW Free-No-Maintenance on my now eight year old F82, the one i had planned to replace three years ago, and gone full Old School instead.
wonder how long i can make it last…

I dunno, I think it's cool and different. Would like to see it in person; even if it's not my jam I appreciate trying something new. I used to be the biggest touchscreen hater - give me knobs! - and now my current car has a touchscreen and a knob and I use the touchscreen more often. Things change and grow on you.

I remember times when I wanted a BMW concept to become the real thing.

A not just one, but most if not all of them.

This is a total failure. Not going to buy this monstrosity, sorry.

Compared to what? The current generation of BMWs is completely over the top. At least they seem to be headed back to the "less is more" idea with their cars.

How does that make any sense?
Information should be in front of the driver, a HUD is ideal for important as it’s in the drivers line AND focused at 6 feet away so you don’t have to effectively refocus.

This seems to be yet again inappropriate technology, form over function

Is it clever ? Yeh possibly
Does it look “cool” perhaps , but what does that actually mean. Does it actually work better than existing designs? I think not based on its location

Come on bmw , do you think we want to drive PlayStations?

I’m done with bmw now , and to be honest most other manufacturers aswell due to them feeling they have to incorporate this in ergonomic tech.

Others may disagree but I don’t want :-
Touch screens
Gesture control
Stupid panoramic displays
Screens instead of rear view mirrors
Removal of physical buttons
Gimmicky graphics on displays

Just look at profession kit compared to consumer kit for a given product and see the difference

Rant over!
Looking low far right to get information seems a bit dangerous to me. Keep eyes focused on road ahead. At lease speed is front and center. Out HUDs seem to do a good job now. Not sure why messing with that.

Some manufacturers are starting to figure out that EV's don't need to look like some 8 year old's origami. Look at the new Mercedes G580e or the Escalade IQ as examples. BMW needs to look back to some of their classic designs like the E38 7 Series or the E39 5 Series and create modern interpretations.

Feels like BMW designers have lost the thread at this point. I speak someone who gritted his teeth and bought an iX because it was the best driving EV despite hating the exterior design (and now regretting the purchase).

You look at this garish, screen everywhere, chopped up steering wheel and think "less is more" ? Are we looking at the same thing?

when I’m sitting still looking to entertain myself I’ll check oil level, tire pressure/temperature, my music. But damn how much more do you need to check for a car? Oh yeah, there’s an app for that too.

BMW seems to be famous for answering questions that nobody has asked with features
Contrary to you, I love my HUD in my i4.
I like the interior of my G26 and I have a G87 on order.

The G80 with full leather is awesome.

Now the new exteriors and rendering are horrible. When I saw the i4 proto I was sold, these leave a lot to be desired and I will need to see real production before I'm moved.

I am all for improving tech but to me the actual car design looks like hot garbage.

That sedan looks so good, especially profile.
Would be awesome in a dark blue color.

SUV fits my lifestyle better, but this looks so amazing.

Looking at this concepts, it seems BMW designers are doing exactly that. So many cues from older BMWs are in these cars.

I Love it! Yes it reminds me flying an Apache AH 64. That’s why BMW is called the “Ultimate Driving Machine!”

Big fan of BMW… but jeez they’re trying even me now.
If cars become appliances and I lose interest… like, what then? Gardening?
Jeez!
Imagine having to park your automotive enthusiasm because the new stuff is just so awful they kill it.
You might as well just buy a Toyota Corrolla then. Oh the excitement. Hold me back! 🤣

Hopefully the change of guard in the design team will be able to turn the ship before they crash the whole business into a lighthouse.

These concepts are ugly in general, but I do like some of the styling cues. The throwback to the lines of the 70s and 80s. It's this over the top crap that has kept me from getting anything new to replace my E90/93.

iDrive was detested when it came out.

Now that it’s being discontinued, people are upset.

It’s the same ol’
