I've used apple iphones, g1 (android), and windows mobile (htc touch pro 2)

but currently im using the touch pro 2 and its a powerful phone. I can watch avi rmvb etc without converting, and the screen is beautiful on it.

I use a Mac, but iPhone is rubbish, the keypad sucks my balls. The thing is better for games then it is for making phone calls and sending texts/emails. It's borderline infantile imo, my 10 year old cousin has a fetish for the thing and that says something. Apple finally decided to make it capable to copy/paste and MMS a month ago, wtf is that?

It's like anything in life. Practice makes perfect. I've been using an iPhone since the first day it was released and have become quite good at typing on it. I have an Android G1 as well and I can type a lot faster on the iPhone. Can't use one for 20 minutes and expect to type fast.

With that said, by no means do I think a software touch keyboard is better than a hardware keyboard. Of course tactile feedback is better. But the keyboard is just one of the drawbacks of the iphone (and can be overcome with practice) while there are hundreds of benefits over other phones. It all depends on what you need most. I think the pros of having a fully digital display (at least in the case of the iphone) outweigh the cons, but that's just me.
