I was confronted with the same question USED M3, NEW 335i ... seems like a common conundrum for people these days.

As you can see in my sig.. 335i on order.

Just to address some false information that I have seen posted in this thread...the M3 is NOT cheaper to insure than the 335i. The M3 is an older design and any parts replaced will be LKQ used parts if available. My M3 is about $300 a year cheaper to insure than my 335i. Also, the 335i does not handle like ass compared to the M3. My M3 is modified so it's not a fair comparison...the 335i will have more body roll but other than that it's pretty much on par with a stock M3 as far as handling. A stock 335i with a set of decent coilovers will give an E46 M3 all that it can handle and then some on a track. I like the 335 because it's better suited for daily driving duties and while it doesn't rev past 8K RPM's like my M3 it is a blast to drive.

^ thanks for the correction.

Hows the steering feel compared the two?

As far as the track, my money is on the car with the LSD. imo

Correct me if I'm wrong. It seems like 4 years down the line the $$ is going to even out. I think going with the new body style would be a better choice.
Its possible. But if that used M3 needed new brakes and rotors by then. Tack on another $1,200 for that

Don't forget the cost of the oil. The M3 uses 15w-60 that is about 8-$9 a qt. Also the car needs a valve adjustment at 35k-45k miles.
