You had a CL too? What year? You can pick up a W215 65 for like 70k now...man those cars are beasts, just make sure you've got the extended warranty...
Mine was an '03...

My next car will not be a replacement for my 335 but for my wife's SUV. I'm hoping to be able to convince her to go 3 series wagon or perhaps an upcoming BMW crossover? Something that can hold stuff and kids and be taken on the track. But that's still a few years out. Maybe 2010 or 2011?

Lots of good choices all.
I also considered the B8 Audi S4. However, they are currently saying 3.0 liter TT at 330 hp. I know they are bragging that's more than the 335i, but we all know the 335i is actually more like 320-325 anyway, so it's about the same. But in the Audi, it will be a heavier car, so it will still underperform the BMW. I don't know why Audi doesn't bore or stroke out their 3.1 liter to a REAL 3.2 liter and develop a TT version of that engine. That would allow for 350 hp and compete better then. And hopefully Audi can figure out a way (more aluminum...cough cough) to drop 100-150 lbs off the A4/S4 350 hp in a 3.2 TT AWD car with their DSG and drop 100+ lbs off the curb weights all around and priced around $50K to start, the 2009 S4 would be a SWEET ride! |

Really?
Where did you see this? That would be sweet, well except the 8 speed thing. I think manufacturers are going overboard trying to one up each other in the number of gears. Personally I think a well spaced 6 speed DSG is just fine and at MOST 7 speeds. Otherwise, you have just way too much shifting going on. It's been one of the first complaints of the Lexus IS-F and I predicted that would be the case long ago when I first heard they were making an 8 speed auto. |

I love the 335 engine so maybe a new 535 in 2010 (depending on where the new styling goes...), otherwise maybe just buy out the lease and hang on to my 335.

Great thread! It's interesting to see that many of us like the same cars. I'll eventually own a new 911 as a second car, but until my bank account can support that luxury......
1. C63 : That little thing is a BEAST, a true displacement MONSTER 2. B8 S4 : I've always wanted an Audi + great rallying heritage 3. M3 Sedan : No explanation needed |

Any reason why you gave up the Aston Martin?

Another 335i with all my current options + Active Steering + LSD (if BMW offers it as an oem option, but doubtful); then transfer my PROcede v2 and VS7 wheels and PS2 tires to the new car and I'm good for another 30 months!
