Did you just glue a tiny BMW emblem to the top of the 12v plug cap?

Are you guys buying OEM red engine start/stop buttons?

Are there any decent knock-off door projectors out there, or best to go OEM?

Also, has anyone found any good quality key covers? I had a thin silicone one for my previous car which I quite liked.

Aaah the little things...

I totally did that! It is “OEM”’ish, but it was from Bob’s BMW (motorcycles). It wasn’t easy to find the right diameter. I thought it would fit directly in the center, but the 12V has a slight rounded edge, so glue gun did the trick.

Got my red button from AUTOID and looks really great. They send a nice tacky putty also, to pull off your old one; worked like a charm on one take.

I'll be lurking this thread for good suggestions on key sleeves!

Well, there was a hitch. The supply store my vinyl warp guys uses was closed until 11am this morning putting his whole schedule behind. It is now scheduled for Sunday AM. I did $20 off for having to wait.

Installed an intake. Fitment and quality is pretty good. I’ll add the lid after the car cools down (I left it off for a test drive just to make sure everything was sitting right). Intake sound is quite noticeable any time under load now. Will it improve the driving experience? Probably not but whatever.

It’s not crazy loud but it’s also very obviously there. I think some exhaust noise covering it up would make it sound a bit more tasteful overall. For the moment with all stock exhaust it is just a suction machine. I’ll install my cat’d downpipe eventually.

I bought this Dinan intake from EP3 Motorsports in St Charles, IL.

Thanks. Is it clear/black and lights up amber when the interior lighting is on?

I was thinking about using a Command strip to remove the factory button. Stick it on with a slight pinch in the middle to grab with pliers. I have used this method before to remove wheel center caps.

Yep it is clear/black when not lit. Hard to tell from the photo, but there is a lot of depth and it looks really “high end” for lack of a better term.

Good idea with the command strip, I never tried that. I ended up having to pry the old button out using a small flat head. Don’t recommend that method as it is easy to damage the trim around the button (I was fortunate not to cause any damage)

Best way to remove the button has been published here previously and works a treat.
Glue a hot glue stick to the button and pull up “with vigor!”

Installed the warning triangle bracket. I got this triangle when I did my first European delivery back in 2012 and it's become a tradition to carry it in all my BMWs since then.

Is that something that's visible when the trunk is open?

Standard kit in the UK even though there is no requirement to carry one.

Yes, it's attached to the trunk door lining. If you open your trunk, you'll see a piece of blanking plastic. Remove this and the mount attaches in its place. I intend to do this.
